Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the first part of the prompt regarding the 21st century, but it fails to address the second part of the task: 'What other time in history would be interesting to live in?'. The essay is also incomplete, cutting off abruptly in the conclusion. While the position on the current era is clear, the lack of response to the second question and the unfinished nature of the text significantly limit the development of ideas. To improve, ensure all parts of the prompt are answered and provide a complete, well-structured conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression is hindered by the incomplete conclusion. There is some use of cohesive devices such as 'This can be seen in', 'It also paved way for', and 'In conclusion', but the flow is repetitive. The ideas within the paragraphs are somewhat circular, focusing heavily on the same technological examples (robots, machines, housing) without sufficient expansion. The abrupt ending makes the overall structure feel disjointed and unfinished.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There is significant repetition of phrases like 'new housing structures', 'new computer versions', and 'new robots'. Some word choices are slightly unnatural, such as 'history of men' instead of 'human history' and 'conquered the mediveal age'. There are also minor spelling errors like 'mediveal' and 'newinve'. To reach a higher band, you should use a wider range of synonyms and more sophisticated collocations to describe technological advancement.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay relies primarily on simple and compound sentences. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'This believe has it's reason' (should be 'This belief has its reasons') and 'technological equipments' (equipment is an uncountable noun). Subject-verb agreement is occasionally inconsistent, and punctuation is sometimes misused, particularly with spacing around commas. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors and the limited range of complex structures prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic errors and incorporating more complex sentence structures would be beneficial.
