Student answer (Band 6.0)

In recent times, it is widely seen that so many people are claiming that present time is the best time in history for living. I completely agree due to various reasons, such as an easy access of scientific development, easy life, and more. However, If given the chance, people would find interesting to live in Roman development century. In this essay, I will try to discuss both these question and will come out with a better conclusion.

To start with, there are multiple reasons to support an argument why do people feel the current time is the best time to live in the history. The first and foremost reason could be scientific research. Currently, the scientific development at it's peak where scientists are developing many things which people in the past could have not even thought about. For example in the past decade or so, scientists from NASA invented a possibility of having human survival on moon which was not exposed before. Apart from the scientific development the second could be easy life. To elaborate, it is apparent, people in the past did not have the modern technologies, so they had to do their work manually. Due to the development of modern technologies, nowadays people have access to modern tools which they could use it from washing their cloths to drive automatic car. This has released stress from people's life.

However, a significant number of people think apart from the present time, the ancient roman development would be interested time to be lived in. To explain, so many books are written on ancient roman development which explain how the roman development happened. Also, it is surprising to know, how it was ahead of it's time, how they had developed everything from water restoration to roads, to the cities and all.

To wrap up, yes, looking at the current situation and life I would say now is the best time to live in the history. However, if given the chance, I would love to do time travel and would love to be a part of ancient roman development.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the opinion on the current era and the choice of a historical period. However, the development is somewhat superficial. While you mention scientific progress and 'easy life', the examples provided, such as 'human survival on moon', are vague and lack depth. The discussion regarding the Roman era is also quite brief and lacks specific historical detail, relying on general statements about 'water restoration' and 'roads'. To improve, ensure that your supporting arguments are more thoroughly explained with concrete, well-developed examples rather than general observations.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'To start with', 'However', and 'To wrap up', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the phrase 'both these question' in the introduction. Additionally, the flow between sentences could be smoother; some sentences feel slightly disjointed. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer to their antecedents would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your ideas, but it is somewhat repetitive and lacks precision. Phrases like 'so many people', 'easy life', and 'do their work' are quite basic. There are also some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'Roman development century' instead of 'the Roman era' or 'Roman civilization'. While the meaning is generally clear, the vocabulary does not demonstrate the flexibility or sophistication required for higher bands. Try to incorporate more topic-specific terminology and avoid overusing simple adjectives.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'present time is the best time' (missing article), 'at it's peak' (incorrect possessive), and 'use it from washing their cloths' (incorrect pronoun usage and spelling of 'clothes'). While these errors do not impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. To reach a higher band, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement, article usage, and the correct use of apostrophes.
