Student answer (Band 6.0)

Many people believe that this time period is best time to spend life because of technology advancements that makes life more convenient and easier as comparison of past. I agree with this statement because development in technology provide better quality of life but I also would like to experience the revolution time period because of the major innovations.

On the one hand, In present time technology provides many benefits to humans according to their daily convenience such as transportation, mobile phones and many others which helps them to perform tasks more easily and efficiently. For example, AI robots can help individual to complete their house tasks like cleaning, preparing food as well as also help them to effectively complete their work related tasks. Secondly, people get appropriate treatment for their chronic diseases related to heart, Cancer and Asthma. By apps people can get nutrition plans which helps them to stay healthy and fit.

On the other hand, revolution time period of late 1700s to 1800s would be great time to experience as it is the main time of the history when all the major innovations happened in the world such as people shift from handmade tools to factory machines, steam, power and mass production. Moreover, people can learn how people spend their life without the basic necessaries like light and reliable transportation.

In my opinion, present time is the perfect time to spend life because of the facilities and advancement in medicine sector. People are more aware about their needs and rights but if revolution time period would be one of the best time to experience the life of people without the necessary things.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the opinion on the current era and the selection of an interesting historical period. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the discussion on the Industrial Revolution is quite brief and lacks specific examples of how life was actually experienced, relying on general statements like 'shift from handmade tools to factory machines'. To reach a higher band, you should provide more detailed explanations and specific illustrations for your arguments, ensuring that the connection between your chosen historical period and why it would be 'interesting' is more deeply explored.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central topic. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'Moreover', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally imprecise, such as in the concluding sentence where the structure 'if revolution time period would be one of the best time' is grammatically awkward and disrupts the flow of the argument. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that sentences connect more naturally would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'innovations', 'efficiently', and 'chronic diseases'. However, there are some issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'spend life' instead of 'live one's life' or 'revolution time period' instead of 'the Industrial Revolution'. Additionally, there is some repetition of basic vocabulary. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and academic phrasing. Expanding your vocabulary to include more topic-specific terminology related to history and technology would help you move into a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the best time', 'the revolution time period'), subject-verb agreement ('development... provide'), and sentence construction ('as comparison of past'). Some sentences are slightly fragmented or lack necessary prepositions. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, especially regarding articles and pluralization, will significantly improve your score.
