Student answer (Band 6.0)
In today's world, many individuals hold diverse opinion on a wide range of topics. Some people believe that modern time is best for living due to its comfort and opportunity whereas others opine that past time offered simplicity, strong cultural values. This essay will discuss both perspectives before presenting my opinion.
To begin with, there is no doubt that modern life brings more technological advancement that have significantly improved our quality of life. Innovations in sectors such as education, healthcare and transportation have made life more convenient. For example, the development of internent, allowpeople to connect with each other with in seconds. and it also helpful in education and work purpose. Additionally, global travel has become more affordable and accessible, enabling people to connect with various cultures and explor the world more easily.
However, some people argue that lifein past centuries, although less technologically advanced was more peaceful and rooted in culture. To elaborate it, people in 18th and 19th centuries were deeply engaged in with art, literature and philosophy. There was strong sense of community and interpersonal relationships even in a small village. Additionally, prime example of a right cultural past can be seen in ancient civilizations like Egypt and Greece which made significant contribution to the science, architecture.
In conclusion, the while both perspective offer valid reasons, I believe that living in the present era is more advantageous. The primary progress in education, healthcare, technology and human rights has made modern life more comfortable, secure and full of opportunites. Although, past had its unique charm and values but the benefits of living in today's world outweigh its drawback.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the opinion on whether the present is the best time to live and the identification of another interesting historical period. However, the second part of the prompt—discussing another time in history—is addressed only superficially. While you mention the 18th and 19th centuries and ancient civilizations, you do not clearly state why these periods would be 'interesting' to live in or provide a personal perspective on this. The position is clear, but the development of ideas is somewhat limited, particularly regarding the second requirement of the task. To improve, ensure each part of the prompt receives balanced and detailed attention.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs with a clear introduction, body, and conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'However', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is interrupted by punctuation errors, such as '...with in seconds. and it also helpful'. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that sentences are connected smoothly without punctuation errors would enhance the overall coherence. The progression of ideas is generally logical, but the connection between the historical examples and the 'interesting' aspect of living in those times could be more explicit.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'technological advancement', 'interpersonal relationships', and 'ancient civilizations'. However, there are several spelling errors ('internent', 'allowpeople', 'lifein', 'opportunites') and minor word-choice issues ('past time' instead of 'the past'). To reach a higher band, you should aim for more precise collocations and ensure accurate spelling. Using a wider range of less common lexical items, such as 'unprecedented' or 'era', would also demonstrate greater flexibility and control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the development of internent', 'in 18th and 19th centuries'), subject-verb agreement ('innovations... have made', but 'development... allowpeople'), and sentence fragments. For instance, 'and it also helpful in education and work purpose' is grammatically incomplete. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic errors like missing articles and prepositions. Increasing the use of error-free complex sentences will help you achieve a higher score in this criterion.
