Student answer (Band 6.0)

Many people think that present time is a great time in history to live. I support this point because there are a lot of improvements in healthcare sectors, but future time would be interesting in history due to modern technology, such as machine and robots.

To commence with, today is the best time to live because modern society improved healthcare facility. In the past, people had to suffer or even died from chronical diseases, such as cancer and heart failure because of no treatment, but now, healthcare facilities has been improved by government funding and new doctors. As a result, people are treated on the right time when they suffer from any disease. For example, when corona pandemic came in the world, the all doctors worked together to find the solution so that people can be prevented from this. However, I believe that the improvement in health sector is not only helps individuals to have a good lifestyle, but also make nation strong to fight with unexpected pandemic.

Moving towards the future time is to have more use of digital technology to work easier than before. In the future time, there would be fully operated automatic machine in the companies, which would help to reduce the workload of human being. This may lead to provide them a comfortable life. For example, according to scientist predication, this type of digital technology will launched that the cars will be made within less than 5 minutes.

In conclusion, although present time has a significant impact on people's life by improving healthcare facilities, modern future time may also change standard of living of people by giving them more facilities and options

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the opinion on the present day and the choice of an interesting historical period (the future). However, the development is somewhat limited. While you mention healthcare as a reason for the present being the best time, the explanation is repetitive and lacks depth. The second part regarding the future is also brief, relying on general statements about robots and automation without providing a more nuanced perspective on why that era would be 'interesting' beyond mere convenience. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully extended with more specific, logical reasoning and clearer examples.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use basic cohesive devices like 'To commence with', 'As a result', and 'In conclusion' to signal the structure. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the final paragraph where the transition to the future is abrupt. The conclusion is also incomplete, as it trails off without a final sentence. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a strong, cohesive internal structure would enhance the overall flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You use some repetitive phrasing, such as 'healthcare facilities' and 'future time'. There are also some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'chronical diseases' (should be 'chronic') and 'scientist predication' (should be 'scientific predictions'). To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated synonyms and collocations, and pay closer attention to word forms to ensure they fit the context of your sentences naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the reader. Examples include 'the all doctors worked together' (article error), 'is not only helps' (verb form error), and 'will launched' (passive voice error). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly in the final sentence which is incomplete. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors suggests a need for more careful proofreading and a better grasp of subject-verb agreement and tense consistency.
