Student answer (Band 6.0)
Several people think that this is the best time to be alive. Whereas, I also believe that this era in history is unique and has several advantages of its own compared to all the old ones.
To begin with, there was a time, where all the people used to struggle for the basic necessity of the human life. From clean water to getting fresh food for the family. All the previous generations have spend their lifetime to provide basic needs to their children. Meanwhile, this privileged generation of modern times has gotten all the facilities and comfort from the technological advancements. From travelling to different part of the world to getting different types of cuisines at a particular place.
But, there was a time in the past where no one was this competitive about the money and the fame as everyone was happy with what they had. I am talking about the stone age era, where people were so happy and satisfied as they had only one job and that was to get the food for their loved ones. Moreover, they were very strong and capable of surviving any situation by their own.
However, I still would not prefer to live in any other time as the current time is the best suitable for those who wants to enjoy a comfortable life with their loved ones with all the technological and modern tools available. For instance, we have a cell phone to communicate any distant relative or a friend or a car to travel from one place to another.
To conclude, people are satisfied with the life in this modern age as they can get this comfortable in this era compare to all the past times.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the opinion on the current era and the choice of another historical period. However, the development is somewhat superficial. While you mention technological advancements, the discussion remains general. For instance, the reference to the 'stone age' is a bit simplistic and lacks depth regarding why it would be 'interesting' to live there beyond basic survival. To reach a higher band, ensure that your arguments are more fully extended with specific examples or deeper analysis. The position is clear throughout, but the supporting points could be more robust to fully satisfy the requirements of a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'However' to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally imprecise. For example, the transition between the second and third paragraphs could be smoother to better contrast the modern era with the past. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and better signposting to guide the reader through your arguments.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'technological advancements' and 'basic necessity'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is some repetition of basic words like 'time', 'people', and 'happy'. To improve, try to incorporate more precise synonyms and collocations. For example, instead of 'get the food', you could use 'procure sustenance'. There are no significant errors that impede communication, but the vocabulary lacks the sophistication and flexibility required for higher band scores.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'all the people used to struggle for the basic necessity of the human life' (article usage), 'have spend' (incorrect verb form), and 'communicate any distant relative' (missing preposition). Additionally, some sentence fragments or awkward phrasings, such as 'Whereas, I also believe', affect the overall fluency. To achieve a higher score, focus on improving your control over verb tenses, prepositions, and article usage, and aim for more error-free complex sentences.
