Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you clearly state your opinion that the 21st century is the best time to live, you only partially address the second part of the prompt regarding which other time in history would be interesting to live in; you mention the past generally but do not specify or explore a particular historical era. The ideas presented are under-developed due to the brevity of the response, and the essay ends abruptly mid-sentence, leaving the task incomplete.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the general argument. However, the progression of ideas is hindered by the incomplete nature of the text. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'The main reason is' and 'Although', but they are sometimes used mechanically or with grammatical errors, such as 'In nutshell' (missing an article). The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the abrupt ending prevents a logical conclusion from being formed, which disrupts the overall coherence of the piece.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You use some relevant terms like 'industrial revolution' and 'telecommunication system', but there are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'raised the standard of living in every aspects' (should be 'aspect') and 'lover the quality of life' (should be 'lower'). The vocabulary is somewhat repetitive, and the errors occasionally force the reader to pause to interpret the intended meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There is a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. You frequently omit articles ('across globe', 'in past 100 years') and struggle with subject-verb agreement ('human race have raised', 'transportation facilities... became'). There are also issues with word order and sentence construction, such as 'the more physical energy needed to do same activity'. These errors are frequent and sometimes impede the flow of the text, though the basic meaning remains understandable.
