Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is often argued that the concurrent world is best suited for better living.

I partially agree to this statement.

The primary reason for such belief is because of the technological advancements. Nowadays, the technology brings every thing to our finger tip which will make our daily life more easier. All people are busy with their work and family life. This has made it easier to connect and stay with their loved one's even they are not near. For instance, mobile phones and internet connection plays a vital role in this. We can see our family or friend with video calls and sharing videos to them. So, most of the people believe this period of century is the best.

We can't say it completely this is the best time to be living. The old generation was also great. Without these advancements people find enjoyments by themself by spending time with friends and family. In old times they hang out with their family more than now. Because they don't have the mobile phones and computers. So they spend their time in parks and libraries for reading and talking each other. For example, the young ones and adults often play cricket and football in grounds and completely involved in outdoor activities. This phenomeon is not seen today.

I strongly believe that, people of all centuries have enjoyed their life with all the available resources. Now with advancements and before with outdoor activities.

To conclude that, the best time of living is now although the people who lived before was also happy with lifestyle and the available resources

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing why the present is considered the best time to live and reflecting on the past. However, the development is somewhat superficial. While you mention technological advancements, the discussion on the 'old generation' lacks specific historical context, as the prompt asks what other time in history would be interesting to live in. You focus on a general 'old time' rather than a specific era. To improve, ensure you clearly identify a specific historical period and provide more depth in your reasoning for why that era would be interesting, rather than just contrasting it with modern social habits.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices like 'For instance' and 'To conclude', but the transitions between ideas can be a bit mechanical. Some sentences feel disconnected, such as the shift between the benefits of technology and the description of the past. Using a wider range of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would improve the flow. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as the use of 'this' to refer to broad concepts.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your meaning, but it is somewhat limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'best time to be living' and 'spend their time' are used frequently. There are also some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'concurrent world' (which is not standard in this context) and 'talking each other' (should be 'talking to each other'). To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise, topic-specific vocabulary related to history and technology, and work on more natural collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the technology', 'the mobile phones'), pluralisation ('loved one's'), and verb tense consistency. For example, 'the technology brings every thing to our finger tip which will make our daily life more easier' contains a double comparative ('more easier'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they are frequent enough to limit the score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and avoiding redundant comparatives.
