Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is undeniable fact that, with the advent of technology people life have become more easier. However, few individuals reckon that today's time is the best time to live in compare to previous years while others disagree with it. As far as I am concerned I am in the favor of first notion that I will explain in the upcoming paragraphs with my own opinion.

To commence with the former view, nowadays people have access of every things at home within a seconds with the help of mobile phone. They can use it for shopping, gaining knowledge for personal or professional work, getting up to date records of current affair that happening at the global level. Moreover, transportation is coming in various options such as electric car, airplane while using these option can the visit any country and get chance to learn different culture and tradition.

On the paradoxical side, most people believe that old period is the interesting time to live because people did not had phone to spend their time they liked to sit in a family and share their happy moments that help them to bring their nostalgic memories and also strengthen their relationship bond. Another thing, in history people suffer from less health disease because they prefer to do their chores by itself instead of using a robots.

According to my point of view, people have to maintain their life well so that they can give their proper time to family and work. Apart from that, they have to make a strict schedule on daily basis such as doing yoga and exercise that help them to stay fit and healthy.

In the summation, although with today's opportunities life become more convenient but it has some negative effect that can be handle with proper guidance.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, though the development is uneven. You clearly state your preference for the modern era and touch upon why the past might be considered interesting. However, the explanation for the second part of the prompt—why the past would be interesting to live in—is somewhat underdeveloped and relies on generalisations about 'nostalgic memories' and 'less health disease'. To improve, you should provide more specific historical context or concrete examples of what makes a particular past era appealing, rather than just contrasting it with modern technology. Your position is clear, but the depth of analysis needs to be more consistent across both questions.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices like 'To commence with', 'Moreover', and 'In the summation'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'On the paradoxical side', which is not a standard idiomatic phrase. Additionally, the transition between the two main ideas could be smoother. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the internal flow within paragraphs is occasionally disrupted by grammatical errors, which makes the progression of ideas feel slightly disjointed at times.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'advent of technology', 'current affair', and 'nostalgic memories'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'people life have become more easier' (should be 'life has become easier') and 'suffer from less health disease' (should be 'suffer from fewer health problems'). To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing. The range is sufficient for the task but lacks the flexibility and sophistication required for higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there is a high frequency of grammatical errors. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('people life have become', 'people did not had'), article usage ('the interesting time'), and pluralisation errors ('less health disease'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. To improve, you need to focus on basic sentence construction, specifically verb tenses and subject-verb agreement. Increasing the number of error-free sentences is essential for moving into the 7.0 band range.
