Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 110 words. Consequently, the task is incomplete. While the introduction attempts to address the prompt, the body paragraph is cut off mid-sentence and fails to develop the required arguments regarding why today is the best time to live or which other historical period would be interesting. The position is stated but not supported with sufficient evidence or logical progression. Because the response is significantly under-length and lacks the necessary depth to address all parts of the prompt, it falls into the lower band range.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a clear structure due to its incomplete nature. While there is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'First and foremost' and 'For example', the progression of ideas is interrupted by the abrupt ending. Paragraphing is present, but the development within the paragraph is disjointed. The referencing is sometimes unclear, such as the phrase 'living in the history', which does not clearly connect to the prompt's requirements. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that ideas are fully developed before moving to the next point.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. There are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'A few masses believe' (instead of 'Some people believe') and 'living in aboard' (instead of 'living abroad'). The phrase 'living in the history' is also imprecise and does not accurately convey the intended meaning. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and using more precise terminology related to historical and societal topics.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues like 'History play a vital role' (should be 'plays') and 'it provide the knowledge' (should be 'provides'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and an incomplete sentence structure at the end of the text. The range of sentence structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement, verb tenses, and ensuring that sentences are complete and correctly punctuated.
