Student answer (Band 6.5)
I certainly agree that this is the best time in history, we all are living in, because we have access to advanced healthcare, multiple ways of transport, and convenient communication and information through the internet. All of these faclities made our lives much easier than any previous period of history. Nevertheless, every other era of history has its own significance and contribution.
To commence with, modern health system, technology, and internet significantly changed the lifestyle of mankind. Development in medical science also increases the life expectancy. Most of fatal diseases can be treated easily. Likewise, medical tests can also find out the growing diseases and deficiencies of vitamins and minerals in human body. Moreover, combining technology and internet made our commute cheaper, faster and convinent. Transportation services such as Train and airplane reduce the travel time and cost by half. Similarly, an individual can communicate via call or video with their family or loved ones from anywhere on the globe with just one click.
Other times of the history are also great to experience. I would like to experience the age of exploration ([redacted phone]AD) because it is the time, when European voyages began travel to find new trade routes, built new ships, and had encounters with distant civilizations. These two centuries were potentially the life changing period for mankind, as many civilizations get to know about each other and started to trade. What usually facinates me about the era is adventure and uncertainity. At that time, people did not have technology and they have to rely on their natural navigation techniques such as direction of wind or location of stars. If I would have the opportunity to live in that era, I would love to join them as navigator or crew member. Because I would love to experience the seas and visit unfamiliar places.
To sum up, undoubtably, this is the best time to live in history because of the resources available such as advance medical science, internet and technology. Despite of all these, I would love to be in the exploration age, so i can explore water and meet people from different civilizations.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the opinion on why the present is the best time to live and the choice of a historical era. The position is clear throughout. The ideas are relevant, such as the mention of medical advancements and the Age of Exploration. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the explanation of the Age of Exploration could have been more detailed regarding why it would be 'interesting' beyond just the adventure aspect. The response covers all requirements well, but the depth of analysis is more consistent with a Band 6.5 or 7.0 level, as some points are stated rather than fully explored.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To commence with', 'Likewise', and 'To sum up', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are a bit mechanical, and there are occasional issues with referencing and flow, such as the slightly abrupt transition between the first and second paragraphs. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the progression of ideas is generally clear, though the internal structure of the paragraphs could be more sophisticated to reach a higher band.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'significance', 'contribution', and 'uncertainty'. However, there are also some spelling errors ('faclities', 'convinent', 'facinates', 'undoubtably') and minor word choice issues ('growing diseases' instead of 'developing diseases'). The range is sufficient to convey meaning, but the lack of precision and the presence of spelling errors prevent a higher score. The student should focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring accurate spelling of common academic terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'we all are living in', 'modern health system' (missing article), 'most of fatal diseases' (incorrect quantifier), and 'Despite of all these'. These errors are noticeable but do not impede communication. The control over complex structures is inconsistent; for example, the conditional sentence 'If I would have the opportunity...' is grammatically incorrect. To improve, the student needs to focus on article usage, subject-verb agreement, and the correct formation of conditional sentences.
