Student answer (Band 6.5)
I certainly agree that this is the best time in history, we all are living in, because we have access to advanced healthcare, multiple ways of transport, and convenient communication and information through the internet. All of these facilities have made our lives much easier than any previous period of history. Nevertheless, every other era of history has its own significance and contribution.
To commence with, the modern health system, technology, and the internet significantly changed the lifestyle of mankind. Development in medical science also increased the life expectancy. Most fatal diseases can be treated easily. Likewise, medical tests can also find out the growing diseases and deficiencies of vitamins and minerals in the human body. Moreover, combining technology and the internet made our commute cheaper, faster and convenient. Transportation services such as trains and airplanes reduce the travel time and cost by half. Similarly, an individual can communicate via call or video with their family or loved ones from anywhere on the globe with just one click.
Other times of the history are also great to experience. I would like to experience the age of exploration ([redacted phone]AD) because it is the time, when European voyages began travelling to find new trade routes, built new ships, and had encounters with distant civilizations. These two centuries were potentially the life-changing period for mankind, as many civilizations came in contact with each other and started to trade. What usually fascinates me about the era is adventure and uncertainty. At that time, people did not had any technology and they had to rely on their natural navigation techniques such as direction of wind or location of stars. If I had the opportunity to live in that era, I would love to join them as a navigator or crew member. Because I would love to experience the seas and visit unfamiliar places.
To sum up, undoubtedly, this is the best time to live in history because of the resources available such as advanced medical science, internet and technology. Despite all these, I would love to be in the exploration age, so i can explore water and meet people from different civilizations.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt clearly. You have established a firm position on why the present is the best time to live, citing healthcare and technology, and you have provided a well-reasoned alternative era, the Age of Exploration. The ideas are relevant and generally well-supported. To reach a higher band, ensure that your arguments are fully developed; for instance, while you mention medical science, providing a specific example of a life-saving advancement would strengthen the argument. The conclusion effectively summarizes your stance, maintaining a clear position throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Each paragraph has a central theme, and you use cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Likewise', and 'To sum up' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing could be more sophisticated. For example, in the second paragraph, the transition between medical science and transportation is a bit abrupt. Improving the flow between sentences by using more varied linking phrases would enhance the overall coherence of the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your ideas with precision. Phrases like 'life expectancy', 'fatal diseases', and 'distant civilizations' are used appropriately. There are some minor issues with word choice, such as 'growing diseases' (which is not a standard collocation) and 'the age of exploration' (which should be capitalized as a historical period). You attempt to use less common vocabulary, which is good, but ensure that these terms are used in their correct context to avoid slight inaccuracies.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical slips, such as 'we all are living in' (which is redundant), 'people did not had' (incorrect verb tense after 'did not'), and 'i' (which should be capitalized). Additionally, there are minor punctuation and article errors throughout the text. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent capitalization will help improve your accuracy.
