Student answer (Band 6.0)
The number of people think that modern technological era is best for living. I believe that although present time has more technological advancement, people are lonely and surrounded by number of health problems.
My opinion is that current time made a person more career focused. That is to say people send more time at their workplace, which make them distant from their family members and deprive their relationship with loved ones. For example, people, who are working in the corporate companies spend longer hours at their workplace , which give them less chance to meet their loved ones. As a result, they become lonely in their life for long run. Also spending longer hours at the work can make the people physically and mentally unhealthy as they do not get time for the relaxation.
The time of `the kings and queens are the best time because in that time people can experience royal lifestyle as person can hire lots of helper for their daily chores. Even people can share their feelings with the helpers and can do regular basis chit chat , which make them more socialized. Moreover, people can experience rich culture and can view the beauty of royal castles. To illustrate, I enjoyed the Rajasthani royal celebration and culture a lot, it gave me sense of peace and happiness. Consequently, in king's era people can enjoy their life and become more social.
In conclusion, the modern era makes people lonely and unhealthy because of the hectic lifestyle, however the kings and queen time period was more enjoyable and relaxing.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, providing an opinion on the modern era and suggesting an alternative historical period. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. The argument regarding the modern era focuses solely on workplace stress, and the discussion of the 'kings and queens' era is quite simplistic, relying on a romanticized view of having helpers. To reach a higher band, you should provide more nuanced analysis and deeper exploration of the implications of your arguments. The position is clear, but the supporting evidence lacks depth and academic rigor.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'To illustrate', and 'Consequently'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the logical progression within paragraphs could be smoother. For example, the transition from the modern era to the historical era is abrupt. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as the use of 'that time' to refer to the era of kings and queens. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring they are used naturally would enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. You rely on basic phrasing like 'number of people', 'best time', and 'long run'. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'regular basis chit chat' and 'kings and queen time period'. While the meaning is clear, the range of vocabulary is limited, and there is little evidence of less common lexical items or idiomatic expressions. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and collocations that sound natural in an essay context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Common issues include missing articles (e.g., 'in king's era', 'at the work'), subject-verb agreement errors (e.g., 'people... spend... which give them'), and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'The number of people think that'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. To improve, pay closer attention to article usage, pluralization, and ensuring that your complex sentences are grammatically sound.
