Student answer (Band 6.0)

Many people saying that living in this time is the best history to be have. I am strongly agree to this because in these era people find satisfactory reasons likes freedom, jobs, technology and many more. If i get a chance to go back in the history I would choose ancient Egypt.

Many people believe that living in the "Present" is the best times if comparing with the past. In this era people have enogh technology which is made life easier. Research in medical fields are successfull to recover people from deadly disease such as cancer. Nowadays people has more freedom than past, women get their empowerment in various types of work from construction to travelling in space. Technology and innovations are on peak that makes easy for individuals to commute one place to another via local transport, private vehicals and flights.

As I read on books, I am very excited to live in ancient Egypt times. In those times, having a fewer facilities Egyptian civilisation made such breath taking sculptures like Pyramids of Giza-it is still unbelievable how they build these pyramids.

In addition, in those times people had very less food options available and living on a dry land they do not have enogh hydrations option still they had better physics and energy level.

In conclusion, this essay shows that how I agree on living in present times because it has everthing which is enogh to live such as technology, transport, medical facilities, education. However, I mentioned how ancient Egyptian lives and build pyramids. This is the historian times I found interesting.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the opinion on the present day and the choice of a historical period. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention technology and medical advancements, the explanation remains superficial. For instance, the section on ancient Egypt lacks depth, focusing on physical attributes rather than explaining why it would be 'interesting' to live there. To improve, ensure that each point is supported with more detailed reasoning or specific examples to fully develop your arguments, rather than listing general observations.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. There is a logical progression from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate, such as the transition 'As I read on books' or the phrasing in the conclusion. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect ideas more naturally rather than relying on simple transitions.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward word choices and collocations, such as 'best history to be have', 'physics' (when referring to physical condition), and 'hydrations option'. Spelling errors like 'enogh', 'vehicals', and 'successfull' are frequent and occasionally distract the reader. To improve, focus on learning collocations and ensuring correct spelling of common academic vocabulary to demonstrate a more flexible range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. While there are attempts at complex sentences, they are often marred by grammatical errors, such as 'Many people saying that...' instead of 'Many people say that...' and 'I am strongly agree' instead of 'I strongly agree'. Subject-verb agreement and article usage are inconsistent throughout the text. Frequent errors in basic grammar, such as 'the historian times' and 'they do not have enogh', impede the flow of the writing. Increasing the variety of complex structures and proofreading for basic errors would significantly improve the score.
