Student answer (Band 6.0)
Many people have opinion that the time we are living in today is the best time in history. I totally agree with this statement and my reasons to this statement are given below.
To begin with, today era is modernized where we have best technologies in the world. If we compare it with the past, we do not have facilities like mobile phones, air conditioners, AI, means of transport. Nowadays, these things are not considered as a luxury, it became part of our daily lifestyle. Not only this, we have best universities, colleges, and schools where the young generation can gain knowledge from professionals and there is also facility of internship and co-op so that students can gain practical knowledge as well. In addition, everything is getting globalized for instance, it is easier to go abroad these days in comparison with past as we can book plane tickets by sitting at home the only thing is we just have to follow the rules and regulations of countries. Therefore, the technologies we have in todays time makes our lives easier and best for us.
It is difficult to choose what other time in history would be interesting to live in but still I would say the era of kings and queens where people obey rules and are afraid to get punished. Not only they have less demands but they also believed in living life with peace and spreading among each other by helping and fulfilling needs of each other. One of the best thing I like about the history is people lived with their families which is not possible to see nowadays.
To sum up, as we are living in modern era we should adopt moral values from history.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: why today is the best time to live and an alternative historical period. However, the development is somewhat superficial. While you mention technology and globalization, the arguments lack depth and specific examples. For instance, the discussion on the 'era of kings and queens' is vague and relies on generalizations about people being 'afraid to get punished' or living with families. To reach a higher band, you should provide more concrete evidence or nuanced reasoning to support your claims. The position is clear throughout, but the ideas could be extended further to fully satisfy the requirements of a Band 7 or higher.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices like 'To begin with,' 'In addition,' and 'To sum up' to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the transition between the two main parts of the prompt is abrupt. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'spreading among each other,' where the object of the verb is missing. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'modernized,' 'globalized,' and 'regulations.' However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and awkward phrasing, such as 'today era' instead of 'the modern era' and 'spreading among each other' which is unclear. The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and ensuring that your word choices accurately reflect the intended meaning rather than relying on basic descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the time we are living in,' 'the era of kings'), subject-verb agreement ('these things... it became'), and preposition usage. For example, 'my reasons to this statement' should be 'my reasons for this statement.' While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. You should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and attempting more complex sentence structures with greater control.
