Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt but lacks depth and structure. While you mention that life is easier today due to technology, you do not fully explore why this is the 'best' time in history. Furthermore, the second part of the prompt—asking which other time in history would be interesting to live in—is completely ignored. To improve, ensure you dedicate at least one full paragraph to each part of the question. The ideas provided are somewhat anecdotal and lack the analytical support required for a higher band score. You need to provide a clear, balanced argument that directly answers both components of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a clear structure, with ideas jumping between personal childhood memories and general observations about technology. There is a lack of logical progression between paragraphs, and the transition between the two main topics is abrupt. Cohesive devices are used sparingly and sometimes incorrectly, such as the misuse of 'Although' at the end of a sentence. Paragraphing is insufficient; the text appears as a single block of ideas rather than a structured argument. To improve, use clear topic sentences for each paragraph and employ a wider range of linking words like 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in contrast' to guide the reader through your argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is generally basic and repetitive. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word choices, such as 'advance world' instead of 'advanced world' and 'taking place very fastly' instead of 'advancing rapidly'. You also use 'genuiness' (a misspelling of genuineness) and 'trending' incorrectly. While you attempt to use some descriptive words, the lack of precision and frequent errors in word formation limit your ability to convey complex ideas effectively. Focus on learning collocations and using more precise academic vocabulary to replace generic terms like 'good' or 'easy'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('The smart phones has been changed'), tense inconsistencies ('I born in 1986'), and article usage. Sentence structures are predominantly simple, with few attempts at complex sentences. When complex structures are attempted, they often contain errors, such as 'that's why they are prefer to live'. To reach a higher band, you must focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct verb tenses, and reducing the frequency of errors in basic grammar, which currently occur in almost every sentence.
