Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some people say that this 21st century is the best time in history to be living well that may be true but there are lot of things I think we should consider before coming to a conclusion. In this essay, will talk about whether the current time is the best time to be living followed by my opinion.
I think people who say it is the best time is because they are able to see everything is possible in this world and everything is becoming automated and with the use of AI tools it is becoming very easy for the people to do their work. Also, the women’s are getting treated equally and they are proving that right to by building big businesses. People are getting all the freedom they want to do of something on their own.
Talking about my opinion it may be best time to be living but I think the main thing that people are not keeping in mind is their family. As people are moving of the houses for the better future they are leaving behind their families. That’s the only thing I don’t like usually during 18th and 19th century people used to stay in joint family and use to enjoy that moment as there used to be 10-15 members in the family but nowadays you will just see husband wife and their kids. So I think it is best time to be living as everything is possible to achieve in current time but make sure to keep your family with you.
To conclude, it might be true that it is best time to be living with all the technology available but make sure to keep your family with you and spend time with them.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing why the present is considered the best time and identifying the 18th/19th centuries as an alternative. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. The argument regarding the 18th and 19th centuries is underdeveloped; you mention joint families but do not fully explain why that era would be 'interesting' to live in beyond that single aspect. To reach a higher band, ensure that your supporting points are fully explored with more specific examples or deeper analysis. The position is clear, but the overall structure of the argument lacks the depth required for a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite basic and sometimes mechanical. For example, you rely heavily on simple transitions like 'Also' and 'To conclude'. There is a lack of sophisticated linking words to connect ideas within and between sentences. Additionally, some sentences are run-on, such as the opening sentence, which lacks proper punctuation to separate clauses. Improving the variety of your cohesive devices and ensuring clear sentence boundaries would significantly improve the flow and coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your ideas clearly. However, the range is limited, and there are instances of awkward phrasing or incorrect word choices, such as 'moving of the houses' instead of 'moving away from home' and 'women’s are getting treated' instead of 'women are treated'. You tend to use repetitive, simple language. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and collocations. While your meaning is always clear, the lack of variety and occasional errors in word formation prevent a higher score in this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'people who say it is the best time is'), incorrect pluralization ('women’s'), and missing articles or prepositions. Punctuation is also a significant issue; the lack of commas and periods makes several sentences difficult to parse, particularly in the introduction. While you attempt complex sentences, they are often grammatically flawed. Focusing on basic sentence accuracy and punctuation will help you achieve a more professional and readable standard.
