Student answer (Band 6.0)
In the world, there are a lot of individuals who have different beliefs, as some of them believe that present is the best time in history to be living. However, there are certain other times when living life was best too. Thus, I partially agree with the given statement. In this essay I am going to talk about my personal opinion and mention about other times in history that would be interesting to live in.
According to me as a person born in early 2000s, I believe that living now as well as in early 2000 years are both best. Firstly, talking about today feels better because of various facilities provided to the public such as better health care, online shopping and automations that made life much easier than before where most of these works were done manually. Whereas, back in early 21st century years, when there were no such things like smartphones, life was simple and folks tend to spend more time with their families and friends and I personally like those days, playing; not on phones but outside with real friends.
Apart from these, the 1980s and 1990s were also sound like amazing years. I often hear from father and my grandfather that at those times, there were no such things like computers or cell phones at my country. People used to have landlines instead. For example, once my grandfather told me that they used to go to river for swimming where they play sports like football, cricket and volleyball. He often used to say "Life was awesome back then" and I feels it even now and wants to live that life too. So, I believe there were other times too when life was pretty good.
To recapitulate, living life today is better no doubt, yet there are certain times back then too when maybe living life was best.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the opinion on whether today is the best time to live and the identification of another interesting historical period. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you mention the benefits of modern technology and the simplicity of the past, the arguments lack depth and specific supporting evidence. For instance, the discussion of the 1980s and 1990s relies heavily on personal anecdotes rather than broader historical context. To reach a higher band, ensure that your arguments are more thoroughly extended with clear, logical explanations that directly relate to the prompt's focus on 'history' rather than just personal nostalgia.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. You use some cohesive devices such as 'However', 'Firstly', 'Whereas', and 'To recapitulate' to link your thoughts. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and the transitions between sentences could be smoother. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'no such things like computers or cell phones at my country', where the connection to the previous sentence could be more tightly managed. Overall, the structure is coherent, but the flow between ideas could be more sophisticated.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'automations', 'healthcare', and 'landlines'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and awkward phrasing, such as 'folks tend to spend' (should be 'tended') and 'sound like amazing years'. There is also a reliance on simpler, repetitive language. To improve, try to incorporate a wider range of less common lexical items and ensure that your collocations are natural. For example, instead of 'sound like amazing years', you could use 'were arguably formative decades'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the fluency of the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('folks tend to spend', 'I feels it', 'wants to live'), missing articles ('at my country'), and awkward phrasing ('no such things like'). While these errors do not impede communication, they are persistent. To achieve a higher band, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with verb tenses and pluralization, and aim to increase the variety of complex structures used with greater precision.
