Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is often considered that the 21st century living is the best time for mankind to spend on this planet. Some of the factors behind this thought is the accessible modern technology, inventions that eased the quality of life, and increased life expectancy. If possible, I would be intrigued by the idea to live in the stone age era when humans were still living with the nature.
On one hand, humans have evolved to their maximum potential today and have elevated the standard of living due to technological advancements and innovations in science. Inventions like light, telephone, and electricity have significantly changed human lives, making it easier to survive. Moreover, technological developments like high speed internet services and transportation options have allowed the people living on either sides of the globe to connect and communicate easily. Also, groundbreaking research in healthcare like ventilation system, immunization, and advanced surgical procedures have proliferated human life expectancy. Overall, the current generation has access to all the resources to live a comfortable life.
On the other hand, if I get a chance, I would be interested in living a caveman life. It is due to the fact that life in those times was less materialistic and more oriented towards living with the nature. People back then learned essential life skills like hunting, fishing, and living in groups. It helped them to survive and spend a contented life without negative emotions like jealousy, greed, and revenge. Therefore, living in that period would be less stressful and more satisfactory.
To recapitulate, although human life in the modern era has all the facilities to thrive easily, surviving in early human era was equally peaceful.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the current era and an alternative historical period. The position is clear, and the ideas are relevant. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the mention of 'ventilation system' as a healthcare breakthrough is inaccurate and confusing, and the discussion of the Stone Age lacks specific historical context, relying on generalizations about 'caveman life.' To reach a higher band, you should provide more nuanced examples and ensure that the supporting details are factually sound and directly relevant to the arguments presented.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two distinct parts of the prompt. Cohesive devices such as 'On one hand,' 'Moreover,' and 'To recapitulate' are used effectively to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing could be smoother. For instance, the link between the first and second sentences in the introduction is a bit abrupt. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear and easy to follow throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including terms like 'proliferated,' 'materialistic,' and 'groundbreaking.' However, there are some issues with word choice and collocation. For example, 'ventilation system' is not a standard term for medical advancement, and 'proliferated human life expectancy' is an incorrect collocation; 'increased' or 'extended' would be more appropriate. Additionally, 'living with the nature' should be 'living with nature.' While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the essay from reaching a higher band score for lexical precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as '21st century living is the best time' (should be 'the 21st century is the best time'), 'factors behind this thought is' (subject-verb agreement error: 'are'), and 'living with the nature' (article error). While these errors are noticeable, they do not significantly impede the reader's understanding. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, and try to incorporate a wider variety of complex sentence forms with greater accuracy.
