It is believed by some individuals that modern society is the best time to live in history. I strongly agree with this, because in present times people are witnessing many unbelievable developments. Nevertheless, I believe the Greek period would be interesting to live in the history.
There are numerous reasons why current period is optimal to live. Primarily, the development in the technology. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the opinion on the present day and the choice of a historical period. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the arguments for the present day are relevant, the justification for the Greek period is quite narrow, focusing primarily on fashion ('Peplo') rather than more significant historical or cultural aspects. To reach a higher band, the ideas regarding the historical period should be more fully extended and supported with more substantial reasoning beyond aesthetic choices.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices such as 'Primarily', 'Moreover', 'In addition', and 'To conclude' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing and flow, such as the awkward phrasing in 'the Greek period would be interesting to live in the history'. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and the progression of ideas is generally easy to follow, though the connection between the two main body paragraphs could be smoother.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task. You use some good topic-specific terms like 'advancement', 'connectivity', and 'flourishing'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'get knowledge' (should be 'acquire knowledge'), 'imagery' (should be 'imaginative'), and 'one fatal' (should be 'once fatal'). The use of 'Peplo' is a good attempt at specific terminology, but the overall lexical control is limited to a fairly standard range. Increasing the use of more precise collocations would improve this score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the Greek period', 'in the history'), prepositions, and verb forms ('If I could get choose', 'This era also witness'). Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'the development in the technology'. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and article usage would significantly enhance the accuracy of your writing.
