Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the first part of the prompt regarding whether this is the best time to live. However, it fails to address the second part of the prompt: 'What other time in history would be interesting to live in?' This is a significant omission. While the position is clear, the ideas are somewhat repetitive and lack depth. The arguments regarding medical facilities and technology are relevant but remain at a surface level. To reach a higher band, you must ensure all parts of the question are answered and provide more detailed, specific examples to support your arguments.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as 'Bot on the contrast' or 'At the end'. The progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed, particularly in the transition between the benefits of modern life and the drawbacks. While there is an attempt to use linking words like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'Thirdly', the overall flow is hindered by the limited range of cohesive devices and some awkward phrasing that makes the logical connection between sentences less clear.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying on basic words like 'good', 'easier', and 'problem'. There are several instances of incorrect word choice or collocation, such as 'medical people' instead of 'medical professionals' and 'vedio call' (spelling error). The range is just about adequate to convey the basic meaning, but there is little evidence of less common lexical items or an awareness of style. To improve, you should focus on learning synonyms for common words and practicing collocations to express your ideas more precisely.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement ('everyone are', 'technology are'), article usage, and sentence structure ('Many people said that this era is better than a past to be living in world'). Complex sentence structures are attempted but are often faulty, leading to confusion. The majority of the sentences are simple, and the lack of control over basic grammar rules significantly limits the clarity of your writing. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement is essential.
