Student answer (Band 5.0)

Well if we talk about history is those days people where living good life and no tension, life was smooth'

Precisely some people still like to live in olden era because those days had things hand made and it was very strong and real and use to stay for long. We can not bring history back some people use to struggle a lot because lack of things. those days there was no technology and the world was not advanced .

Some other person have there own perspective that history should come in this era . As per my opinion it is very difficult because the new generation wont follow the history because to get into that first of all it will be very difficult to explain them about kings and Mughal who use to rule the country. Some of them had hard name to recognize also. However it is good not to bring history in this era.

From knowledge making history now is impossible due to the situation goin around the world. Before people had a good understanding between each other and had a brotherly bond. But to if we compare todays generation they wont understand the facts of life and they my laugh it out and will take things for granted. So my point of view is the history should always remain in its place and better not to bring in this generation because even old people would agree that life is not as easy as before where they use to live in 18th century.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5

The response addresses the prompt only partially. While you touch upon the idea of living in the past versus the present, you do not clearly state your own opinion on whether this is the best time in history to live. Furthermore, you fail to address the second part of the prompt: 'What other time in history would be interesting to live in?' The ideas provided are somewhat repetitive and lack specific examples or logical development. To improve, ensure you explicitly answer every question asked in the prompt and provide clear, distinct reasons for each part of your argument.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a clear structure. Paragraphing is present but does not effectively separate distinct ideas. The progression of thought is difficult to follow because the sentences are often disjointed and lack logical connectors. For example, the transition from discussing 'hand made' items to 'Mughal' rulers is abrupt and confusing. To improve, use cohesive devices such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in contrast' to link your ideas. Additionally, ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that relates directly to one part of the prompt.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive, relying on basic phrasing such as 'living good life', 'no tension', and 'very difficult'. There are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation, such as 'hard name to recognize' and 'making history now is impossible'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas or nuanced opinions. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and collocations, such as 'technological advancement', 'historical era', or 'contemporary society', and avoid informal phrasing like 'laugh it out'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede communication. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('people where living', 'Some other person have'), missing articles, and run-on sentences. The sentence structures are predominantly simple, with very few attempts at complex sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of apostrophes and commas. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct verb tenses, and practicing the use of complex structures like relative clauses or conditional sentences to add variety to your writing.
