Student answer (Band 6.0)

The world changes continuously, it is believed that people thinks the current time is the best period of time to live rather than previous time. This essay will discuss about this perspective.

To begin with, the present time is known for advance technology where things has become very easier and reliable to do. Modern technology offers us tonnes of opportunity. There are so many jobs available either offline or online in almost every field. Gadgets gives us platform to run these things even from home, in fact from every corner of the world. An individual can learn anything by attending classes online without going anywhere, even if do not want to pay then they can go for youtube for free. A lot of adventurous activities are available for public which was not even discovered before. Eventually, this world is colorful world where people has choice to do anything.

Moving further, there was time in history too which would be very interesting to live in. For instance, good relations and family bond. At that time mostly there was joint family where children grows under so many relatives which makes a strong family bond among them and make them to always stand together under any difficult circumstances. As there was not much gadgets available, so people used to spend their quality of time together. That was more healthier time of era. As there was not much diseases like today. People was physically fit and used to do all activities by themselves. For instance, lifting heavy things, doing all household work by hand made their good physique and thus brings less sickness.

To be concluded, both time has their own pos and cons. We like the time where we born as one grows up with that particular environment and facilities. Thus, an individual becomes used to the things they do and learn the ways to tackle them.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the opinion on whether today is the best time to live and the identification of another interesting historical period. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The first body paragraph provides relevant points about technology and opportunities, but the second body paragraph regarding the past is quite generalised and lacks specific historical context or concrete examples. The position is clear, but the arguments could be more deeply explored to reach a higher band. The conclusion is brief and does not fully synthesise the points made, merely stating that both times have pros and cons.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'Moving further', and 'To be concluded', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical, and the flow between sentences within paragraphs is occasionally disjointed. For instance, the shift from discussing technology to 'adventurous activities' feels abrupt. Referencing is generally clear, but the use of pronouns and linking words could be more varied to improve the overall flow and sophistication of the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There is some repetition of basic terms like 'things', 'time', and 'good'. While the student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary ('advance technology', 'joint family', 'physique'), there are errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'tonnes of opportunity' (should be 'a wealth of opportunities') and 'more healthier time' (redundant comparative). The vocabulary is sufficient to convey meaning, but it does not demonstrate a wide or flexible range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the reader. Subject-verb agreement is a recurring issue, such as 'people thinks' instead of 'people think', 'Gadgets gives' instead of 'Gadgets give', and 'children grows' instead of 'children grow'. Additionally, there are errors with articles and pluralisation, such as 'not much gadgets' (should be 'not many gadgets') and 'more healthier' (double comparative). While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the response from reaching a higher band.
