Student answer (Band 5.0)
Most of the people say that now is the best time in history to be living.Time is like something if we waste we cannot get it back. But, I strongly agree with the opinion that now is the best time to live.
As we talk about the old times. I condem that the old time was very simple, everything was good everyone were pleased but there are also many pros and cons. As old time was so much good for being simple, nothing modern stuff, no one was proud so much of being better than others. But there are also many issues like having many lack of basic needs. Those people have to suffer very hard to get those facilities. In old times, if anyone want to any long journey, they have to travel by the animals or by foot. No technologies, they cannot convey messages to anyone easily, they literally have to wait for a month if they have to convey message to a person who lives out of city.
Now the 20s century is the best time ever in the history. There are lot of facilities nowadays. We can engage with eachother in seconds by multiple apps. We can travel anywhere by cars, planes, buses and trains which had made travelling too much easier. We have gained so much technologies, nowadays Artificial Intelligence and Internet has made the world a Global Village. As there are prons and cons in everything, being too much modern in that time made some people so proud of being too better.
Every time although old or new are good but it,s upon the humans that can make the all time as they want. We have to make simplicity in our hearts. That everything in the world is temperory.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, giving an opinion on whether the present is the best time to live and discussing another interesting time in history, specifically comparing it to older times. A clear position is established in the introduction where the writer states, 'I strongly agree with the opinion that now is the best time to live.' However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. While the writer mentions lack of basic needs and long travel times in the past, and contrasts this with modern technology and apps, the elaboration remains at a surface level. For example, the discussion of the past relies on generalisations like 'having many lack of basic needs.' Despite these limitations, all parts of the prompt are addressed, aligning the work with the Band 5 descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay displays basic organisation with an introduction, body paragraphs discussing past and present, and a concluding thought. However, overall progression is hindered by choppy sentence structures and weak paragraphing. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or repetitively, such as 'As we talk about the old times' and 'As old time was so much good.' Referencing and paragraph transitions lack fluidity, leading to a mechanical feel. For instance, the transition between discussing the past and the 20th century is abrupt, and the conclusion introduces new philosophical thoughts ('We have to make simplicity in our hearts') rather than summarising the preceding arguments. These features place the text firmly at Band 5.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is relatively basic and repetitive, with noticeable errors in word choice and collocation that occasionally impede understanding. Examples include 'condem' instead of 'acknowledge' or 'admit', 'nothing modern stuff', and 'having many lack of basic needs'. The writer does attempt some less common vocabulary, such as 'Artificial Intelligence', 'Global Village', and 'temperory', but spelling and word-form errors occur frequently, such as 'everyday' vs 'everyone were pleased' (grammatical/lexical overlap) and 'prons' instead of 'pros'. The lexical range is minimally adequate for the task, meeting the criteria for Band 5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control is weak. There are frequent grammatical errors, incorrect verb forms, and punctuation issues throughout the response. Examples include 'Most of the people say', 'everyone were pleased', 'if anyone want to any long journey', and 'which had made travelling too much easier.' Run-on sentences and comma splices also appear, such as 'No technologies, they cannot convey messages...' Attempts at complex structures are frequently faulty, causing some difficulty for the reader and restricting the score to Band 5.
