Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by giving an opinion on the best time to live and discussing another interesting period, specifically highlighting the past. The writer presents a clear position throughout the essay. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive, particularly regarding family values and environmental conditions. For instance, the statement 'human relations are more stong and envioronment was less affected' is supported by general assertions rather than fully extended, robust arguments. While the points are relevant, they tend to over-generalise and lack depth in places, such as the brief mention of medical advancements in the third paragraph which contradicts the central argument without deep exploration. These characteristics align closely with the Band 6 descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt at paragraphing, separating the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Ideas are logically sequenced to some extent, moving from family values to health impacts. However, cohesion is frequently faulty and mechanical. The writer relies heavily on basic cohesive phrases like 'To elaborate', 'Additionally', and 'Moving further', and some referencing is unclear, such as 'which has introduce many health disease to masses' in the third paragraph, which lacks a clear antecedent. Paragraph transitions feel somewhat abrupt, and organizational flow is occasionally disrupted by awkward phrasing. These features reflect the characteristics of a Band 6 performance.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common lexical items such as 'contemporary world', 'digital evolution', and 'cognitive, linguistic and social growth'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, including 'individual' instead of 'individuals', 'stong', 'envioronment', 'concider', 'advantagious', 'resons', 'biger', 'childrents', 'rissing', 'reveled', 'helth', 'dignosing', and 'compaire'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, their frequency prevents the score from reaching a higher band. The lexical control is generally sufficient for Band 5, showing a minimally adequate range with persistent errors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some variety through relative clauses and introductory dependent clauses, such as 'To elaborate, in-person relationship and family ties were give more values...'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors and awkward phrasing that cause difficulty for the reader, including subject-verb agreement issues ('many individual argue', 'relations were give more values', 'family size used to be more biger', 'we has more fresh air') and tense inconsistencies ('current time is the best', 'past period has been much more advantagious'). Complex structures are often faulty. These limitations place the performance firmly in the Band 5 category.
