IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Some people say that now is the best time in history to be living.

What is your opinion about this?

What other time in history would be interesting to live in?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

Some individuals believe that today is the best time to be alive. In my opinion, I agree with the statement because we are living in modren era and have great technology and advance medical systems. However, I think it would be interesting to live in ancient India.

In the past, people died from simple sicknesses. Today, we have the hostpitals, qualified doctors and advance medicines to keep us safe and help us live longer. In year the 1898, Plague was speared in the whole world. Becasue there was no cure for the disease many people died. However, if we compare with today's medical advancement, we have successfully managed the the Covid-19 pandamic using vaccination. Moreover, the technology is also playing a vital role in today's world. Internet, Smartphone, computers and e-learning are one of the top successful experiments which are giving great comfort and stabilities to everyone. The communication has become faster than in the past. For instance, in 1950, only a few communication options were available such as telephone and letters. In 2000, when the first smartphone launched, everyone got surprised because now you can not only call but could see each other using the video call option. Currently, everyone is so used to this technogical environment they think this is the best time they are living in at the moment.

On the other hand, I would like to go back to the 90's India when there was no traffic, good air quality and great culture. It would be amazing to see how the people are living in the ancient time. What kind of transport option they had in the past. There are some cultures which are vanished now, I want to see how they used to live and behave with each other. Additionally, as compare to today's air quality, I want to breath in fresh air If i ever had chance to go back to the history.

In conclusion, The present day is safest and more tech-savvy comfortable time to live because of modren progress, although, visiting a time like ancient India would still be an incredible experience.
