Student answer (Band 6.0)
In this modern era, people are comparing between the current lifestyle and the lifestyle of ancient periods to find out a difference of the quality of living. This has led numerous people to think that they are living in the best time in history. The subsequent paragraphs will explore the reasons for this idea, including desired historical time to live in, with particular emphasis before presenting my opinion on this matter.
To begin with, this is the easiest time in history, where individuals are using technology to make their life more relaible, comfortable and luxurious. For instance, it was not possible in previous periods to rely on an artificial intelligence for completing any task, but nowadays, children are also learning about the uses of it to finish their tasks without any mistake, as well as on time.
Furthermore, there is an ancient period from the year 1780 to 1850,where the majority of people want to live. This was the time when the most of countries were starting compete each other for inventing basic gadgets. Further, people of that time were so innocent and helpful, who always do welcome of everyone without any hate or jealousy. For example, people did help of their natives for their chidren's marriages without asking for help, they took it as their duties. Which converted into their ritual after sometime.
In my opinion, If i will get a chance I would like to live in ancient time rather than this era due to the kindness of locality, where individuals did encourage their society for helping everyone.
In conclusion, people do feel changes as time passes, so there no complaint for anyone. However, science is helping people to become more and more advance, but here are a lot of things that people need to learn from previous time.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt: it explores whether today is the best time in history to live, states the writer's opinion, and identifies an alternative historical period (1780 to 1850). The position is clear throughout, particularly in the conclusion and final paragraphs where the writer favours the past due to community kindness. However, some ideas are under-developed or generalise historical conditions, such as the claim that people in the 18th and 19th centuries were 'innocent and helpful' without conflict. Because all parts of the prompt are addressed with a clear stance and supported by relevant, albeit basic, examples, the response aligns well with the Band 6 descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is coherent overall with a clear general arrangement, moving from an introduction to arguments on modern technology, a historical alternative, personal opinion, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used adequately to separate distinct ideas. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. For instance, transitional phrases like 'To begin with' and 'Furthermore' are used, but referencing within and between sentences is occasionally unclear, such as 'Which converted into their ritual after sometime', where a relative clause is awkwardly punctuated and detached from its antecedent. Overall, the logical progression is evident, but the management of cohesive devices places this firmly in the Band 6 category.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'reliable', 'luxurious', 'compete', and 'ritual'. However, there are noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and phrasing throughout the text, such as 'relaible' (spelling error), 'rely on an artificial intelligence for completing any task', and 'people did help of their natives'. Furthermore, expressions like 'welcome of everyone' and 'kindness of locality' are unnatural. While these errors do not severely impede overall communication, they prevent the lexical score from reaching Band 7.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some variety in structure. However, there are frequent grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'people are comparing between', 'where the majority of people want to live' (tense inconsistency), 'were starting compete' (missing preposition), and 'If i will get a chance'. Punctuation errors also occur, such as comma splices and missing spaces after commas. Although these errors do not entirely obscure the meaning and the reader can follow the argument, they occur with enough frequency to restrict the score to Band 5.5.
