Student answer (Band 6.0)
In today's time, people believe current generation is living the best time of their life. I partialy agree with this opinion, after invention of Artificial Intelligence and Improved Technology helped people to live more comfortably. But this could have few drawbacks as well, such as too much relaibility on machines and less physical activity. Personally, I believe 2000s were the best period when everything was in developing stage, this essay will discuss personal opinion.
On the one hand, AI is one of the human's greatest inventions ever. Few popular AI applications are Chatgpt, Claud AI, Grok AI, and many more. These AI made life super easy for workers and students. For instance, if you want Chatgpt to act as your friend, it can do it and if you ask him any questions it can answer them in seconds. Moreover, improved technology for example, online shopping apps, food delivery apps etc., made life super easy. People can order food, groceries, goods or anything online with the tip of their finger.
On the other hand, it made people relay more over machines. This makes a person lazy and physically inactive. New technology is very expensive and can burn alot of money if people depend on it too much.
To conclude, presant is certainly the good time to live in but not the best. As new technology took over people's lives. 2000s was the best time as people are more active and spend alot of time away from machines and live happily and phyically fit.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The student addresses all parts of the prompt, giving an opinion on whether current times are the best and suggesting another historical period (the 2000s). The position is clear throughout, although some ideas are slightly under-developed. For example, the mention of the 2000s in the introduction and conclusion lacks specific historical examples or deep elaboration on why it was superior, relying instead on broad statements about people being more active. Similarly, the discussion on AI names specific tools like Chatgpt and Grok AI, which adds good relevance, but the balance between advantages and drawbacks is relatively brief. Overall, the response meets the core requirements of addressing the prompt successfully, earning a solid Band 6.0 according to the descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph structure separating the introduction, advantages, drawbacks, and conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'To conclude', which helps guide the reader through the text. However, referencing and paragraph internal cohesion are occasionally faulty or mechanical. For instance, the transition from discussing AI benefits to disadvantages feels slightly abrupt, and pronouns are sometimes used loosely (e.g., 'it made people relay more over machines' where the exact antecedent is vague). Paragraphing is used sufficiently, giving the essay a logical progression overall, aligning well with the Band 6 descriptor.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items related to technology, such as 'Artificial Intelligence', 'online shopping apps', and 'physically inactive'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, such as 'partialy' instead of 'partially', 'relaibility' instead of 'reliability', 'relay' instead of 'rely', and 'presant' instead of 'present'. Furthermore, phrases like 'burn a lot of money' are somewhat informal for an IELTS essay. Despite these inaccuracies, communication is never impeded, and the vocabulary remains minimally adequate for a Band 5.5 to 6.0 score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional structures ('if you want Chatgpt to act as your friend, it can do it') and relative clauses. However, there are frequent grammatical errors in tense consistency, prepositions, and article usage. Examples include 'In today's time' instead of 'At the present time', 'current generation is living' missing an article ('the current generation'), and 'are more active' instead of 'were more active' when discussing the 2000s. Punctuation is also occasionally weak, such as comma splices or missing terminal punctuation contextually. These errors do not impede overall communication, placing the response firmly at Band 5.5.
