Student answer (Band 5.0)

Nowadays world is developing at a reasonable rate in terms of social and economic development. Few individuals have a notion that present living conditions are the best in history, while others carry a different view. From my point of view, living conditions at present are significantly improved than in the past, particularly in terms of living standards and healthcare facilities.

First and foremost, reason why present living time is better is because of better living standards like education, technology and public transportation. Moreover, people at present also hold a tight grip in providing quick and reasonable healthcare services. For instance, public health facilities back days were unorganized and underdeveloped whereas, doctor these days are performing advance medical research to find cure to serious illnesses like cancer and polio.

Inaddition, Stringent rule and regulations with strong and democratic justice has been provided in caprison to the past . I believe time during 1980's is the great time to live instad at present because that time , development in every area begin. An individual an experience how changes take place.

To conclude, today's life has better living facilities and law enforcementas compare to the past .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by giving an opinion on whether the present is the best time to live and proposing another interesting era, specifically the 1980s. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and the response falls short of the 250-word minimum requirement, containing only 228 words. Consequently, Task Achievement is impacted by the under-length penalty and the under-development of certain points, such as the explanation of why the 1980s would be an interesting time to live, which is very brief and lacks sufficient supporting details or examples.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The text exhibits some overall organisation with basic paragraphing and attempts to use cohesive devices such as 'First and foremost', 'Moreover', and 'To conclude'. However, referencing and cohesion are frequently faulty or mechanical. For instance, transitional phrases like 'Inaddition' and 'where as' are incorrectly formatted or spaced, and the progression between sentences can feel disjointed. Paragraphing is present, but the body paragraphs are relatively short and lack internal cohesion, which prevents the essay from achieving a higher band score.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'stringent', 'extortion', and 'healthcare facilities'. However, there are notable spelling errors and lexical inaccuracies throughout the essay, such as 'caprison' instead of comparison, 'instad' instead of instead, and 'law enforcementas'. Word choices are sometimes unnatural, for instance, 'people at present also hold a tight grip in providing quick and reasonable healthcare services'. These errors do not completely impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score to a Band 5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'For instance, public health facilities back days were unorganized and underdeveloped whereas, doctor these days are performing advance medical research...' However, there are frequent grammatical and punctuation errors, including subject-verb agreement issues like 'doctor these days are' and missing articles. Sentence structures often contain awkward phrasing or punctuation errors, such as missing commas and incorrect spacing around commas and conjunctions. These frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader.
