IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Some people say that now is the best time in history to be living.

What is your opinion about this?

What other time in history would be interesting to live in?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

There has been a debate that now is the best time to live whereas other times would also be interesting to live in history. Nowadays, technology has been deeply woven into our lives and has greatly advanced which has made life easier. We are gonna discuss both points.

In the modern time, technology has advanced alot and played an important role in make the lives of people easier. For instance, AI has took over so many minimal tasks which has made it more convenient for people to relax more. The world has developed so much that you can also pay bills in the comfort of your own houses and do not even need to go out. Moreover, social media has become so prominent in our society that it is used by majority of people for many uses. There have been a development in the sector of cars as well so it is easier to travel now.

However, it would also be interesting to live in the old era where there used to be none of the modern stuff and people used to eat leaves and make their own food. There was no technology and people used to communicate with each other face to face rather than on social media. Everything used to come with a struggle not as easily available as it is now. That would make us more thankful for the resources that we have right now. It would be quite unusual to see that time and people struggling without any of the advanced technology and that proves that there is even more to discover than we have right now.

Overall, i believe it would really be amusing for us to visit that time instead of living in this time so we could differentiatr between things and experience more than we have already seen. It would give us a chance to discover and learn more about what happened before the modern day.
