Some people say that now is the best time in history to be living.

What is your opinion about this?

What other time in history would be interesting to live in?

Student answer (Band 6.5)

Today’s modern world brings numerous explorative things, new experiences and endless opportunities. Some believe that the current century is the best living era. I strongly agree with this notion as the world has advanced a lot in terms of technology, medicine and all other aspects which have made life more convenient and enjoyable. Likewise, the future would be a more progressive period with invisible and unbelievable creations which would be fascinating to witness.

Undoubtedly, the 21st century and these times are the best and the most useful times humankind has ever experienced since the beginning of history. In the past, people were way behind in many necessary fields of life such as technology, innovations, health and economy. For instance, in 1990 global life expectancy was just 40 years which has increased now to over 70 years. Many infectious diseases like smallpox, cholera, tuberculosis and polio could turn fatal due to poor handling and lack of necessary medical procedures and equipment. However, nowadays, these diseases are easily treated and fatality rates have dropped considerably. Moreover, due to immense progress in technology regarding medicine, recently, kidney transplants have been performed by robots with minimal human supervision. Thus, not only has the longevity and ease of human life increased but also, life has become more meaningful and joyous.

Likewise, the future has great power for unprecedented innovations. There have been speculations of creating a life on another planet specifically on Mars named as “Martian society”. In the coming years, normal people could travel through the space and experience the various planets, galaxies and the wonders of this world. Furthermore, work is being done on creating a path for time travel. Ultimately, there would be no need of going into the past instead people would reexperience their happiest and memorable moments while just slipping away a few seconds from the present time.

In conclusion, people are living through one of the most advanced, beneficial and enjoyable periods of human history. With the future holding much more to every domain of life.
