IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Some people say that now is the best time in history to be living.

What is your opinion about this?

What other time in history would be interesting to live in?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

Some people believe that the present is the best time in history to live. I agree with this view to a large extent because modern life provides many advantages. However, I also think that some periods in the past would be interesting to experience.

One important reason why the present is good time to live is the development of technology. People can communicate with others around the world within seconds by using smartphones and the internet. In addition, modern medicine has improved greatly, so many diseases can now be treated more effectively. People also have better access to educated , transportation and information than in the past. For example, students can study online and learn from university in different countries without leaving their homes.

On the other hand, the present also has some disadvantages. Many people exerience stress because of busy jobs and the high cost of living environment problems, such as air pollution and climate change, are also serious concers. Therefore, modern life is not perfect.

if i could choose another period to live in, I would choose the are Renaissnce. this was a time when art, science and new ideas developed rapidly. It would be fascinating to see famous artists and scientists working during this period. However, I would only want to visit it for a short time because people had fewer medical facilities and a much lower standard of living.

In conclusion, I believe that the present is one of the best periods to live in because of modern technology, healthcare and education. Nevertheless, the Renaissance would be an intresting period to experience because of its cultural and scientific development.
