Student answer (Band 5.0)

it is irredutable fact that the current time is way better then the past. However, It brings lot of hurdles together due to some reasons. Before giving my opitions, I would mention crucial reasons in the trail paragraphs.

The predominent is that the current time is know as contemporary era, which has lot of technology and convinient life. For instance, people in the past, have to commute by walk or bicycle. Albeit, now they have several modes of trasportations which make their life easier. Therefore, It is the best time to live.

On the contrary, In the past , people use to live their live rather then showing off. For example, people in the past were not influenced by others and buy thing which are not needed and end up themselves in trouble. To add to it, people more connected to their loved ones, which can be consider as best time to live. additionally, in the past, things was cheap and affordable as compared to present time. it is because of the demand and incresed population. It not only affect he price of needy things, but also create many other problems. Thus, I can say past time was the best to live.

TO conclde, after carefully considering both the views, I reiterate that life in the past was way better and joyful due to aforementioned reasons.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response addresses the task only partially. Furthermore, the length requirement is not met, as the text contains only 225 words, falling short of the 250-word minimum. The student attempts to answer both parts of the prompt regarding whether the present is the best time and which past era is interesting to live in, but the position shifts awkwardly between paragraphs. For instance, the introduction and first body paragraph argue that the present is the best time due to technology and transportation, but the second body paragraph abruptly pivots to arguing that the past was better because life was simpler and things were cheaper, concluding with a direct contradiction that 'past time was the best to live.' Ideas are limited and under-developed, lacking sufficient relevant examples or extension to properly satisfy the prompt requirements.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some organisation evident in the division into paragraphs, but there is no clear overall progression due to the contradictory arguments presented across sections. Cohesive devices are frequently inadequate, inaccurate, or repetitive. For example, transitional phrases such as 'Before giving my opitions', 'The predominent is that', and 'To add to it' are awkward and unnatural. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as the pronoun use in 'Albeit, now they have several modes of trasportations which make their life easier.' Paragraphing is attempted, with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion, but the logical flow is disrupted by the abrupt shift in stance between the first and second body paragraphs.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary range is limited but minimally adequate to convey basic ideas. There are noticeable lexical, word-form, and spelling errors that occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader. Examples of spelling errors include 'irredutable', 'opitions', 'know' instead of 'known', 'convinient', 'trasportations', 'incresed', 'he' instead of 'the', and 'conclde'. Awkward word choices and collocations also appear, such as 'buy thing which are not needed' and 'needy things' when referring to essential items. The student attempts some less common vocabulary, but these errors prevent the lexical resource from reaching a higher level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer uses a limited range of sentence structures, relying primarily on simple and basic complex forms. Attempts at more complex sentences are frequently faulty, containing errors in verb forms, tenses, subject-verb agreement, and articles. Frequent errors are present throughout the text, such as 'people in the past, have to commute', 'people use to live their live', 'things was cheap', and 'it not only affect he price'. These frequent grammatical errors cause some difficulty for the reader, though the core meaning can generally still be deciphered despite the lack of precise control over grammatical patterns and punctuation.
