Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is believed by some individuals that current time is the best time to live in the history. In the present era, technolgy has changed all the aspects of living. Past time was more fascinated because people were more social, honest. I believe that live in as simple as past will be more interesting for the new generations to understand the values.

One primary reason that people like to live in the present era because of the huge facilities. Technology has developed the each sector into convenient way. Therefore, individuals do not have to struggle to find out the solutions for anything. Gor an instance, information technology is making work easier and people do not have to struggle with the efforts to solve the problems such as students are taking help in the studies from AI. Moreover, healthcare facilities and job opportunities are the best thesedays instead of past. Chronic diseases are treated with the help of developed machines and people are earning more money than the past.

However, there were more benefits to live in the past. People used to live not only the simple life but also people were honest with each other. They used to stand in challenging times with each other. For example, during the partition between India and Pakistan, People used to help each other by proving food and accommodations. Furthermore, people used to believe in hand made clothes, freshly made and simple food which were healthy options. In contrast, people eat fast food thesedays which is unhealthy option for the health and mind.

In conclusion, although many facilities ease the living standard of human beings through technology, old techniques of living were the best options to live a life with full of happiness and healthy lifestyle.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both questions and maintain a clear preference for the past, especially in the introduction and conclusion. You also acknowledge why the present appeals to people, using technology, healthcare and employment as relevant examples. The discussion of past social values and community support gives your opinion some support, including the example of people helping one another during the India–Pakistan partition. However, the second question asks which other historical period would be interesting to live in; you discuss the past generally rather than identifying a particular period and explaining why you would choose it. Some claims, such as people in the past being more honest, are also broad and would benefit from qualification or further explanation.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs contrasting the present and past, and a conclusion. The contrast is easy to follow, and signposts such as “Moreover,” “However,” and “In conclusion” help guide the reader. This coherent arrangement is a strength. At times, though, connections between ideas are mechanical or unclear. For example, “Past time was more fascinated” does not clearly establish the relationship between the past and your position, while “In contrast” introduces fast food without making the comparison fully explicit. Some references are also imprecise, such as “the best options” in the conclusion. Make each paragraph’s main point explicit and use linking phrases to show the exact relationship between examples and claims.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “healthcare facilities,” “chronic diseases,” “challenging times,” and “job opportunities,” which helps communicate the main ideas. There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “information technology” and “hand made clothes.” However, inaccurate word choice, collocation and spelling are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning less natural. Examples include “more fascinated” for describing the past, “proving food” when you mean providing it, and “thesedays.” “Facilities” and “developed” are repeated, and some phrases, such as “full of happiness and healthy lifestyle,” are awkward. Build precision by learning common word partnerships and checking spelling, while varying repeated terms with suitable alternatives.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast clause beginning “although” and a sentence with “not only…but also.” Most of the argument remains understandable, but grammatical control is uneven, and some sentence patterns are faulty. For example, “One primary reason that people like to live in the present era because…” lacks a complete grammatical structure; “Technology has developed the each sector into convenient way” has problems with articles and sentence construction; and “I believe that live in as simple as past…” is difficult to parse. There are also errors in agreement and number, as in “which is unhealthy option.” Practise complete clause patterns, articles, and verb forms, then proofread each sentence for a clear subject and verb.
