Student answer (Band 6.0)

Although every period of time has its advantages and disadvantages. Every person thought that his/her time is the best time in history to be living. However, I believe that present time is best time in history to live in because of advancements in technology and improvements in health care facilities. But I am also intrigued about late 20th century.

In today's fast paced era everything is available in just few clicks. Modern technology gives us access of every information available from any part of the world. For instance, we can know the weather of any place even if we are sitting at our home. Also, there is huge improvements in medical sector as well. Technology gives us a pleasure of booking our appointments online, getting information about any disease and in some cases know about solutions of some minor discomfort.

The late 20th century was also very fascinating time in history. This is mainly because, at that time people used to live very simple life. There was not much noise nor air pollution. People used to trust each other. But what I most liked about that era is dressing style and music. Even though it is not possible to do video chats but people liked to write letters to their loved ones. For example, whole family loved to spend quality time together without having any distractions of social media.

In conclusion, living simple life without technology was good but people faced lots of challenges in terms of poor quality of hospitals and no advancements in schools but in today's modern era technology is playing a major role in day to day activities for everyone.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: you consider the present the best time to live in, mainly because of technology and healthcare, while identifying the late 20th century as another interesting period. You address both questions and give relevant examples, such as checking weather remotely and families spending time together without social media. However, the healthcare point is only briefly explained, and the reasons the late 20th century interests you are partly personal preferences—clothing and music—rather than developed historical examples. The conclusion also introduces poor hospitals and schools without explaining these comparisons in detail. This covers the task well overall, but developing and supporting these less-developed points more fully would make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs discuss the present and the late 20th century, and a conclusion returns to the comparison. This makes the main progression easy to follow. You also use linking expressions such as “For instance,” “Also,” and “In conclusion.” At times, however, connections feel mechanical or the reference is unclear. For example, “This is mainly because” follows the claim that the period was fascinating, but the simple lifestyle does not fully explain why it was interesting. The final paragraph brings together several points without clearly linking them. Use more precise transitions and make each paragraph’s supporting details build directly on its main idea.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary to discuss technology, healthcare, and social life, including “advancements in technology,” “medical sector,” “distractions,” and “quality time.” These choices make your meaning clear, and you attempt some topic-specific phrasing. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “access of every information,” “a pleasure of booking,” and “huge improvements.” Repetition of broad terms such as “technology,” “people,” and “time” also limits precision. Aim to learn vocabulary in natural combinations and choose more exact expressions—for example, describe specific changes in healthcare or communication rather than relying on general claims. These improvements would make your ideas sound more fluent and precise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses beginning “Although,” “because,” and “Even though,” and most of the message remains understandable. Some grammatical errors nevertheless recur. The opening “Although every period of time has its advantages and disadvantages” is a dependent clause presented as a complete sentence; join it to the following sentence. There are also article and agreement problems in “present time is best time” and “there is huge improvements,” as well as errors in “people used to live very simple life.” Punctuation around introductory clauses and sentence boundaries needs attention. Practise checking each sentence for a complete main clause, then review articles, singular/plural agreement, and verb forms. More accurate control of these patterns would strengthen the range you are already attempting.
