Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You give a clear overall opinion in the conclusion, preferring the late 1980s and 1990s, and you include relevant personal examples such as playing outside and picking guavas or mangoes. You also acknowledge changes in modern life, including transport and internet access. However, the response does not develop the comparison fully: the benefits of living now are mentioned briefly, while the reasons for preferring the past focus mainly on stricter parenting and outdoor activities. The opening also presents two views without clearly stating your own position, and the final sentence is unfinished, so the conclusion does not fully explain why that period was best. State your view clearly from the introduction and extend each main reason with a specific explanation or example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some organisation: the response moves from life today to the late 1980s and 1990s, then attempts a conclusion. Paragraphing and signposts such as “In the first place” and “Secondly” help show this basic structure. However, progression within paragraphs is difficult to follow because several points are joined together without clear links, and some sentences shift abruptly from technology to young people’s behaviour. Connect each example explicitly to the main point, and use clearer sentence boundaries. The conclusion begins with “In my conclusion” but ends mid-idea, which weakens the overall progression. A simple plan with one focused paragraph for each time period would make the comparison easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “gadget,” “addicted,” “guardians,” and “strict,” and you attempt to describe changes in transport and technology. However, the range is limited and several word choices or spellings make meaning less clear, such as “transformation in the making,” “a pot of motorcycle,” and “wrong move.” Repetition of “young people,” “time,” and “been” also limits precision. Choose more exact expressions for the ideas you want to communicate, and check spelling and word forms carefully. For example, “many motorcycles” and “technological advances” would express your points more naturally and clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, but control of sentence structure and verb forms is inconsistent. Examples include “living now is been okey,” “there a internet,” and “many of the guardians before is very strict,” where verb forms, articles, or agreement are inaccurate. Some sentences run together, as in the passage beginning “now theres a n internet,” making relationships between ideas harder to understand. The response also relies heavily on repeated “has been” constructions rather than varying tense and structure. Practise forming complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement and past-tense forms when describing earlier experiences.
