Student answer (Band 6.0)

There is widespread discussion going on between some individual's that current time is best time to be alived throughtout the humankind. And I could not agree less. To live in current time where there is logic, understanding, rights, voice, moral, values and world that has so much to offer is best time to live. I will ellaborate on this in detail.

First and foremost, today is the era of technology and people have so many rights to express onself that has been supressed for so many centuries. Basic human rights like opinions, identity, race are now being accepted as it should be in first place. The amount of efforts made in understanding and consideration given to one's voice is incredibaly positive too. Subsequentially platform for equal gender rights, pay and acknowledgement to people in all field of STEM, medicine and research without compromising so much on plate. Normalising woman presence at all man exclusive places, openly talking about how they feel during hormonal changes, body positivity it all has proved to be useful and kind to today's generation.

On the contrary, the victorian era can also be named as most progressive era in history and it would be remarkable to live in such times where art, poems, culture, heritage, food and innovation is at it's peak and no such things are being created today. Color palettes, designs, museum's, church, forts, castels, vehicles, dresses, crockery everything around extravagent and details that cannot be created today even by the best architects and designers.

In conslucion, every time in history had it's ups and down and something beautiful cannot be created twice but it is also impractical to live in past hence admiring work done and being garteful to be born in such a time of freedom is something no one would like to trade.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you agree that the present is a particularly good time to live, and you also identify the Victorian era as another period that would be interesting. You support your view with relevant points about rights, technology, gender equality, and the era’s art and architecture. This addresses both questions, but the two parts are not equally developed. The case for the present includes several examples, while the Victorian-era paragraph mainly lists cultural objects and claims that creativity was at its peak; it does not explain what daily life or a specific historical experience might make that period interesting. Develop this comparison with a concrete example and acknowledge a limitation of each era to make your reasoning more fully supported.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph supporting the present, a paragraph on the Victorian era, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “First and foremost” and “In conclusion” helps readers follow the broad progression. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. “On the contrary” suggests the Victorian era contradicts your argument, although you are presenting it as an alternative interesting period. The long list in that paragraph also makes the central point harder to identify, and “Subsequentially” does not clearly show how the next idea follows. Use more precise transitions and organise each body paragraph around one main claim, followed by explanation and a specific example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “human rights,” “gender rights,” “acknowledgement,” “heritage,” and “innovation,” which helps convey your ideas. There are also some effective phrases, such as “body positivity” and “equal gender rights.” However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable and sometimes make the expression less natural: “alived,” “supressed,” “incredibaly,” and “extravagent” are examples. Some combinations are also awkward, including “without compromising so much on plate” and “man exclusive places.” Aim for accurate spelling and more natural collocations, and choose precise terms rather than relying on long lists. Proofreading and checking unfamiliar phrases in context would improve clarity and control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple statements and longer sentences, and the response includes attempts to connect ideas through clauses, as in “where there is logic, understanding, rights…” and “where art, poems, culture…”. Meaning is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “current time is best time” needs articles, while “people have so many rights to express onself that has been…” has unclear agreement and sentence structure. The final sentence also joins several ideas without clear punctuation, making the relationships between them difficult to follow. Practise accurate article use, subject–verb agreement, and sentence boundaries. Breaking long sentences into clearer units will let you show range without losing control.
