Student answer (Band 5.5)

Few people believe that present living is best time as compared to live in olden days in history.

In my opinion, Due to technology and transport, people have a chance to explore dreams and oppurtunity to increase employment. However, the other preferable time period is 15th century-19th century which have advantages of environment with healthy life-style.

There are plethora of reasons that why this modern time is better .Firstly, people prefer to watch the news from home in televisions.Sitting inside the home and watching the world is the best option and a chance of getting to view the society. Having an automated technology make people life easier and feel comfortable in household chores such as cooking, laundry and washing dishes. Secondly, transportation is also convenient to all the people who are travelling from rural-areas which increase a chance of getting jobs in their desired field. For example, Government introduced schemes to build and supply electricity and consturcting the roads for every small places to stabilize the people's work in recent days.

Coming to the other times, The interesting era is medieval days where people chose to stay with culture and traditions with the nature and protected. While having the strong roots and food is very nutricious in olden days. Old people are very strong enough to work . To illustrate, The count of people these days is increased more as compared to olden days who are hospitalized.

To Conclude, I believe that even though olden days is good but current trends in society is far good as compared to history in the means of technology and transportation.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both questions and maintain a clear overall opinion: modern life is preferable because of technology and transport, while the medieval period interests you for its connection with nature and tradition. The first body paragraph gives relevant reasons, including access to news, household technology and travel for work, and the example about roads and electricity supports the transport point. However, some ideas are asserted rather than explained: the claim that people in the past were healthier, for instance, is supported only by a general comparison about hospitalisation. The alternative era is also described broadly as “15th century-19th century” and then “medieval days,” which makes the period unclear. Develop this comparison with a specific historical example and explain why that era would be interesting to experience.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two parts of the discussion, and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” “Coming to the other times,” and “To Conclude” help readers follow the main stages. However, some links feel mechanical, and the progression within paragraphs is not always smooth. For example, the first paragraph moves from watching news to household chores and then employment without clearly showing how these points connect. The reference to “the other times” is also vague after the introduction names a broad historical span. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example directly to the point it supports; this would make the organisation more consistently easy to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a reasonable range of topic vocabulary, including “automated technology,” “transportation,” “employment,” and “culture and traditions,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. There are also attempts at less common expressions, such as “stabilize the people's work,” although this collocation is unclear in context. Several word-choice and spelling problems reduce precision: “present living” is unnatural for life today, “plethora of reasons that why” is awkward, and “nutricious” is misspelled. Phrases such as “old people are very strong enough” also do not express the intended comparison naturally. Aim for accurate, natural collocations rather than more elaborate wording, and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise vocabulary for historical periods and health would strengthen the response.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a reason clause beginning “Due to technology and transport” and a relative clause in “rural-areas which increase a chance.” The overall meaning can usually be followed, but errors in sentence construction and agreement are noticeable. For example, “Having an automated technology make people life easier” has problems with the subject-verb relationship and possessive form, while “the other preferable time period … which have advantages” has an agreement error. Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention, as in “present living is best time” and the run-together punctuation around “televisions.Sitting.” Practise building complete sentences with accurate subjects and verbs, then check articles, possessives and punctuation. This would make your varied attempts more controlled.
