Student answer (Band 6.0)
There is no doubt that today the world is full of technologies and every second something new is discovered. Due to the development of technologies all over the world, some people say that this is the best time to live as compared to the life in history. I partially agree to this statement of having best time as compared to history because of the many reasons which I personally experienced also will tell you in the upcoming paragraphs.
Firstly, I accept that the way of living is more easy due to technology, internet and the facilities we get. Thus, according to me, the best time to live was between 2009 to 2020. The era before corona was the most stabled era where half of the population was known to the basic technologies while half of them were still remaining to learn. Everybody was very kind in nature, helping without any kind of selfishness, they were very humble and polite. If I talk about the technology then it was not that much at an advance level. Even with very less graphics, everybody was enjoying playing games like GTA, Need for Speed and many more.
Furthermore, the inflation was also in control during those years of time so people was enjoying a lot even by spending less for their vacation time. For example, during that era, the cost for 10 days trip to dubai was about $600 per person while in the current time, its about $2500 per person. In addition to this, the nature and the quality of air during that time was more better than the present condition.
To conclude this, I would like to say that the people who says that this is best time are wrong. The best time to live in according to history was those old good days when everything was managed by humans itself.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you partly agree that the present is the best time, but you favour the years before the pandemic. You address both questions by giving reasons for your view and identifying 2009–2020 as an interesting period, with examples such as technology, travel costs and air quality. However, the response does not fully reconcile its position: the opening says you partly agree that today is best, while the conclusion says those who hold this view are wrong. The claim that people were kinder is also asserted rather than supported, and the final reference to “old good days” is vague. Make your opinion consistent and explain more fully why a particular historical period would be interesting to live in.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two supporting paragraphs and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “Firstly,” “Furthermore” and “In addition to this” help signal the development of ideas, and the Dubai-cost comparison gives the second body paragraph a concrete focus. Some connections are nevertheless mechanical, and the relationship between the opening position and the conclusion is unclear. The first body paragraph also moves quickly from technology to people’s character and then to video games, so the central point is not consistently developed. Group related reasons together and use clearer links to show how each example supports your opinion. A conclusion that directly summarises the reasons would strengthen the overall progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “development,” “inflation,” “facilities,” and “quality of air,” and examples such as “graphics” and “vacation” help make the discussion specific. Meaning is generally clear, but several word choices and collocations are awkward or imprecise, including “the most stabled era,” “at an advance level,” and “old good days.” There is also repetition of “time,” “era” and “technology,” which limits flexibility. Aim for more natural academic phrasing and check word forms and collocations; for example, describe a period as “stable” and technology as “advanced.” More precise vocabulary would help distinguish your reasons rather than relying on broad claims about the past and present.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “because” and “while,” and most of your meaning can be followed. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with agreement, verb forms, articles and comparisons. For example, “people was enjoying” should use a plural verb, while “the people who says” needs agreement between the subject and verb. The comparison “more better” is also incorrectly formed, and “the best time to live in according to history was those old good days” has an unclear singular–plural structure. Review these patterns and proofread sentence endings and punctuation. Greater control of these forms, alongside your attempts at longer sentences, would make the response more accurate and easier to read.
