IELTS Writing Task 1 question

You recently received a letter from a friend asking for advice about whether to go to college or to try to get a job. You think he/she should get a job.

Write a letter to this friend. In your letter

• say why he/she would not enjoy going to college
• explain why getting a job is a good idea for him/her
• suggest types of job that would be suitable for him/her

You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Dear John,

I hope you are doing well. I got to know that you are unsure whether you should join college or start working. Personally, I believe that you should start working to experience real world instead of continuing studies.

As I know that you are always interested in hands-on experience rather than textbook learning. If you took admission in college you have to attend lectures, prepare assignments, and sit in exams that you would not prefer.

At present, working will benefit you more as you can gain experience and get exposure to the real working conditions. Conversely, you can decide what you would like to learn or pursue in future.

I think as you enjoy working in a team and doing mechanical work. Working in a automobile garage, hotel, or restaurant would suit you because you can learn new things and build confidence, communication skills.
