Student answer (Band 7.0)

Dear sandy

I hope you are doing good. A big congratulations for passing higher studies with an excellent grades. I know that everyone gets confused after higher education to move with a college or job. I would like to advice you to get a job due to your intelligence and outstanding results. As per your interest in making money it seems that you will not find college as enjoyable as job.

I heard from a friend that an intelligence company is hiring students those scored more than 95% in their higher studies and you could be one of them. Most of the students dreamed of joining such bigger companies to join but they lack due to their grades or sometimes because of their intelligence but you are blessed with both things. In today's competitive era students get rare chance to get such kind of opportunities. This is the right time to apply for a job which helps you to build your carrer in an early age along with money.

There are plenty of options of job for you in IT field such as programmer, artificial intelligence, hacker and many more. You can apply for a job as per your interest which will be enjoyable and satisfied job for you.

Wishing you a good luck for your wealthy and glowing carrer.

yours sincerely

Anjali

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response addresses all three bullet points of the task. You clearly state why college might not be enjoyable, explain the benefits of working, and suggest specific IT-related roles. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited; for instance, the explanation of why college is less enjoyable than working is a bit vague, relying on the assumption that the friend only cares about money. To reach a higher band, ensure that your arguments are more fully extended and supported with more nuanced reasoning rather than general statements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'As per your interest' and 'In today's competitive era' to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the paragraphing could be more distinct to separate the different points requested in the prompt. The use of referencing is generally clear, though some transitions feel slightly abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words would help the text move more fluidly.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'competitive era' and 'outstanding results'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'intelligence company' (likely meaning 'tech company'), 'enjoyable and satisfied job' (should be 'satisfying'), and 'move with a college' (should be 'choose college'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise vocabulary usage and better awareness of natural English collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'A big congratulations for passing higher studies with an excellent grades' (article/pluralization error), 'students those scored' (should be 'who scored'), and 'build your carrer in an early age' (should be 'at an early age'). Additionally, there are spelling errors like 'carrer'. While these errors are frequent, they rarely impede the reader's understanding of your message. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and preposition usage.
