Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sonia,
I hope you are doing well, I am writing in your response for suggesting to do job rather than going college as wen you find job you will continue part time study side by side. It will resolve issues regarding money issue for study.
If you are enroll in institution for full time study which require high cost of doing B.C.A. , you will face loan regarding burden. Therefore, in this situation you will not fully concentrate you academy because your family income will not allow you to do this.
Now, you have to opt work first then study as It would be beneficial for both family and you. After work , you can study online night classes. You should more focus on your work, this will solve financial issues of your family because after your father death you are only person for earning bread and butter.
Work in Infosys company as a programmer would be best job for because you have good command in it. This will useful in you study as well. Soon we will meet for having good conversation.
Yours lovingly,
Deepak.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all three bullet points of the task. You clearly state why college might be difficult, explain the benefits of working, and suggest a specific job. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited; for instance, the explanation regarding the financial burden could be more nuanced. While the task requirements are met, the depth of the advice could be improved to reach a higher band. The position is clear throughout, and the letter follows the expected format for a General Training Task 1.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices like 'Therefore' and 'Now', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical or abrupt. The progression of ideas is generally clear, moving from the problem to the solution and then to specific advice. However, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'It would be beneficial for both family and you', where the connection to previous sentences could be smoother. Overall, the structure is sufficient for a coherent response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'financial issues', 'institution', and 'beneficial'. There are some instances of awkward phrasing or word choice, such as 'loan regarding burden' instead of 'the burden of a loan' and 'earning bread and butter', which is an idiom that is slightly misused in this context. While communication is not impeded, the range is somewhat limited, and there are minor errors in collocation that prevent a higher score. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise academic or professional terminology would be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the' is often missing), verb forms ('If you are enroll' should be 'If you enroll'), and sentence construction ('I am writing in your response for suggesting'). These errors are noticeable and occur throughout the text. While the meaning remains clear, the frequency of these slips indicates a need for more careful proofreading and a better grasp of basic sentence mechanics. You should focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions.
