IELTS Writing Task 1 question
You recently received a letter from a friend asking for advice about whether to go to college or to try to get a job. You think he/she should get a job.
Write a letter to this friend. In your letter
- say why he/she would not enjoy going to college
- explain why getting a job is a good idea for him/her
- suggest types of job that would be suitable for him/her

Dear Payal,
I hope you are doing well. I was happy to receive your letter asking for my advice about whether you should go to college or start working. After thinking about it, I believe getting a job would be the better choice for you.
From what I know about you, I do not think you would enjoy college. You have always preferred practical learning rather than sitting in long lectures or studying for exams. College requires a lot of theoretical study and assignments, which might not match your interests and learning style.
I think getting a job would be a great idea because you are a responsible, hardworking, and friendly person. By starting work now, you can gain valuable experience, become financially independent, and develop useful skills. Later, if you wish, you can always continue your studies while working.
I believe jobs such as a customer service representative, sales executive, office assistant, or receptionist would suit you well because you communicate confidently and enjoy interacting with people. These roles will also help you build your career and open up better opportunities in the future.
