Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Pushpdish,
I understand it is time for you to choose career path between college or job. After completing you diploma in Electronics and Communication Engineering, now you have to decide either to study further to complete your bachelor degree in Engineering or apply for job. As you realize that practical experience is most useful to find job. And you also do not like to theoretical knowledge, also takes part in practical project and won prizes as well.
As per my advise, i would encourage you to find job in electronics, which will give you practical knowledge as well it upgrade your skills by learning new technology. You have that potential and skills to learn and develop new technology. As you have good knowledge of robotics and you like coding, so i would recommend you look for job that field. Robotics is vast field. There are some companies like ABC Robotics Company, Sterlite Robotics Company, Concentrix Robo Company, etc which are looking for junior engineers. I would encourage to prepare resume and start applying it.
All the best for future.
Yours sincere,
Heli

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: explaining why college might not be suitable, why a job is a better choice, and suggesting specific fields. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, while you mention that your friend does not like theoretical knowledge, you could have expanded more on how a job provides a more stimulating environment for their specific personality. The advice is clear, but the letter would benefit from more detailed explanations to fully flesh out the arguments.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter follows a logical progression, moving from the dilemma to your advice and specific recommendations. Paragraphing is used to separate the introduction from the main body of advice. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally repetitive. For instance, the transition between sentences could be smoother; phrases like 'As you realize' and 'As per my advise' are used frequently. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to their antecedents would help the flow of the text significantly.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'practical experience', 'theoretical knowledge', and 'junior engineers'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'choose career path' (should be 'choose a career path') and 'do not like to theoretical knowledge' (should be 'do not like theoretical knowledge'). Additionally, 'Yours sincere' is an incorrect closing; 'Yours sincerely' or 'Best regards' would be more appropriate. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Issues include missing articles ('find job' instead of 'find a job'), incorrect verb forms ('it upgrade your skills' instead of 'it will upgrade your skills'), and punctuation errors. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they are frequent enough to impact the overall fluency. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, as these are recurring issues in your writing.
