Dear ................. ,
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Harpreet,
Hope you are doing well.
I think you should have to look for a job rather than going to college because this is the right age to earn money and become independent.
Getting a job is a good idea for you because when you get a job you can able to save some money which you can spend to fulfil your own dreams and desires and you do not have to depend on others for anything. Also you can save money for your future or can invest somewhere where you will able to get good interest on your investment.
I wan to suggest you that as you have done your graduation in fashion designing so you should look at designer's job, till done you should try to post your designs online so that desirable people will see and contact you for the job.
See you soon.
Yours lovingly,
Navdeep Kaur

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all three bullet points of the task. You clearly state why college might not be ideal, explain the benefits of employment, and suggest a specific career path. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of why college would not be enjoyed is missing; you jump straight to the benefits of working. To reach a higher band, ensure each bullet point is fully explored with specific reasons or examples. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, maintaining a consistent personal perspective throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter follows a logical progression, moving from the main advice to the reasoning and finally to specific suggestions. Paragraphing is present, though the body of the letter is somewhat compressed. You use basic cohesive devices like 'because', 'also', and 'so' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and the transition between the introduction and the body could be smoother. To improve, try using a wider variety of linking words and phrases to connect sentences more fluidly, which will help the reader follow your argument with less effort.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'independent', 'desires', and 'investment'. There are some minor errors in word choice, such as 'desirable people' (which should likely be 'interested employers' or 'potential clients') and 'till done' (which is unclear). While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, it lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. Focusing on more natural collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing will help elevate your score in this area.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as 'you can able to' (should be 'you will be able to'), 'I wan to suggest' (spelling error), and 'invest somewhere where you will able to' (missing 'be'). These errors are frequent but do not generally impede communication. To improve, pay closer attention to verb forms and modal auxiliary usage. Increasing the number of error-free sentences will be key to moving into the 7.0 band range.
