Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear Mathew,
Hi, how are you, I hope you and your family is doing well and fine also. I am writing this letter to inform you that you go for the full time job rather than doing your masters from university.
As I also know that you are a good student in academics, but job gives you the priority of achieving some experience in related course field that you have studied in accounting and finance. With the help of job, you can easily understand, how work is actually done through CRM software.
While getting job , you can get experience in finance related term in practical form, rather than the theoretical. You also know
to get how things get merges through accounts to excel formation. It also helps you to get financially stable by getting paid by the company. Later on,you get experience certificate, which helps you in resume, building also.
In current scenario, job market is very good. Now the companies are hiring for fresher roles like business development officer, account executive, export import executive, sales trainee etc. Around 2000 plus jobs are available on indeed, linkedin. Also they are paying very decent salaries. The hiring process is also very easy.
Best of luck
Yours lovingly,
Lightson

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The letter addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly state your preference for a job over college, explain the benefits of practical experience, and provide specific job examples. However, the first bullet point—explaining why he would not enjoy college—is addressed only implicitly by suggesting he should choose a job instead. To reach a higher band, you should explicitly state why college might be a negative experience for him, such as the lack of practical application or the financial burden. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, and your position is consistent throughout the response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The letter is logically organized into paragraphs, each focusing on a specific aspect of the task. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'While getting job', 'Later on', and 'In current scenario', to link your ideas. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'As I also know that you are a good student'. The referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to create a more natural, conversational tone suitable for a personal letter.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including industry-specific terms like 'CRM software', 'account executive', and 'export import executive'. There are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'job gives you the priority of achieving some experience' (should be 'opportunity') and 'how things get merges' (should be 'merged'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over word forms and collocations to reach a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'I hope you and your family is doing well' (should be 'are'), 'you go for the full time job' (should be 'should go'), and 'helps you in resume, building also' (punctuation and word order issues). While these errors are frequent, they rarely impede the reader's understanding of your message. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and prepositions.
