Dear ................. ,

Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Deepak,

I hope you are going great. I find your letter for advice whether you pursue higher education in the college or try to have a job in the same field you studied. I would really recommend you to join a full time work in a good sector.

To begin with, I would say that you would not find the place appropriate for you to studies because one of my cousins joined the same college and he felt so disappointed with the environment he had over there.

Moreover, rather than joining a college you must try to find a good place to work it will be more beneficial for you to gain some experience and grab basic knowledge which will helps to further to have great opportunities in the life.

Furthermore, as you did BSC in nursing to can easily get job in the hospitals or any clinics after gaining some essential experience in the work so can apply in the big city hospitals which improve your skills and salary as well.

Anyways, I must finish now. Write back soon and tell me how things are going.

Best Wishes,

Divya.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

You have addressed all three bullet points required by the task. You clearly state why college might not be suitable, explain the benefits of working, and suggest specific nursing-related roles. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. To reach a higher band, you could provide more specific detail regarding why your friend would not enjoy college beyond a brief mention of a cousin's experience. Expanding on the 'why' would make your advice more persuasive and fully developed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter is logically organized with clear paragraphing. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'Furthermore' to transition between ideas. While these are effective, the flow is occasionally slightly mechanical. To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that the progression of ideas within paragraphs is smoother. For example, the transition between the advice about the cousin and the general recommendation for work could be more tightly integrated.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'pursue higher education', 'beneficial', and 'essential experience'. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'join a full time work' (should be 'take a full-time job') and 'the place appropriate for you to studies' (should be 'the right place for you to study'). Expanding your range of collocations would help you achieve a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'I hope you are going great' (should be 'doing great'), 'which will helps to further to have' (should be 'which will help you to have'), and 'to can easily get' (should be 'you can easily get'). These errors do not impede communication, but they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and preposition usage will improve your accuracy.
