Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Mitali,
I hope you are doing well. I am happy to hear that you want my suggestions regarding whether start professional career or take admission in the college for the further study.
As per my opinion, you will get satisfactory feelings after starting your job as compared to go to college, because you always felt bored during theoretical lectures and keen to attend practical class in our school time. Moreover, high tuition fees and other college expense will increase financial burden on your family. Therefore, it would be beneficial for you to explore new environment and get work as per you potential and skills.
I think job will provide you financial support and encourage you to raise you family's standard of living and well-being. As you are facing economical problems, so getting good job along with sustainable salary package will overcome your financial problems. Also, through job, you can build strong personality, confidence and opportunity to learn professional skills and advanced technological knowledge.
As per your education background and skills, rehabilitation assistant position would be suitable for you, because the number of vacancies are higher and it don't demand a lot of qualification. Additionally, this job will allows you to develop good time-management, critical-thinking and team-work skills for your successful career.
I hope my suggestions will be helpful to you. Please let me know if you need any help in this matter.
Best regards,
Twinkle

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response successfully addresses all three bullet points of the task. You clearly explain why college might be unsuitable, provide a rationale for choosing employment, and suggest a specific job role. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, and your position is consistent throughout. To reach a higher band, ensure that your ideas are slightly more developed; for instance, when mentioning 'financial burden,' you could briefly elaborate on how a job specifically alleviates this compared to the long-term debt of college. Overall, the task is fulfilled effectively and the purpose of the letter is clear.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each point, and a closing. You use cohesive devices such as 'Moreover,' 'Therefore,' and 'Additionally' to link your ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive. For example, the use of 'As per my opinion' and 'As per your education background' is a bit formulaic. To improve, try to vary your linking phrases and ensure that the progression between sentences is smoother. Paragraphing is used correctly, which helps the reader follow your argument easily.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'theoretical lectures,' 'financial burden,' and 'sustainable salary package.' There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'get satisfactory feelings' (which sounds unnatural) and 'rehabilitation assistant position' (which is a bit specific but acceptable). You attempt to use less common vocabulary, which is good, but occasionally the collocations are slightly off. Focusing on more natural phrasing will help elevate your score. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly without any confusion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'whether start professional career' (should be 'whether to start a professional career') and 'it don't demand' (should be 'it doesn't demand'). Additionally, there are minor issues with articles and pluralization, such as 'get work as per you potential' (should be 'your potential'). Despite these errors, they do not impede communication. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles.
