Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Suha,
I hope you are doing well. I would like to suggest you to get job instead to go to college. The reason behind this is high tuition fees. The other students similar to your age prefer to do job with along with study, whereas my advice is you should get job rather go to college.
I would like to clarify some specific reason why you should get a job. Once you start earning all expenses can be managed easily. We can plan a long trip at visiting location if you have a some sort of amount. Still if you want study by going college you can able to manage your expenses if you first start job.
There are plenty of jobs available on online platform I can provide many of applications where you can apply for that. My preference for job is you should apply for customer service role at any organization or at retail stores where you would get easily chance to get hire.
I hope you would like my advice.
Best Wishes,
Krupal

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly state your preference for employment over college, explain the financial benefits, and suggest specific roles like customer service. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of why your friend would not enjoy college is restricted to 'high tuition fees,' which is a bit narrow. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the personal or academic reasons why college might not be a good fit for this specific friend. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, and your position remains consistent throughout the text.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, each focusing on a specific part of the prompt. There is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the suggestions. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive. Phrases like 'The reason behind this is' and 'I would like to clarify' are functional but basic. Additionally, some transitions between sentences are slightly abrupt, such as the jump from discussing travel to suggesting college studies in the second paragraph. Improving the variety of linking words would enhance the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You use an adequate range of vocabulary to communicate your points, such as 'tuition fees,' 'expenses,' and 'customer service role.' However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'suggest you to get job' (should be 'suggest that you get a job') and 'get easily chance to get hire' (should be 'have a good chance of being hired'). These errors do not impede communication, but they indicate a need for more precise control over common English collocations and phrasal structures to reach a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures. While you attempt some complex sentences, they often contain grammatical errors, such as 'you can able to manage' (should be 'you will be able to manage') and 'if you first start job' (missing article 'a'). There are frequent errors in articles, verb forms, and prepositions throughout the text. While these errors rarely prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they are frequent enough to limit the score. To improve, focus on mastering subject-verb agreement and the correct use of modal verbs.
