Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Jass,
I hope you are doing well. I received a letter from you and got to know you are confused about your future.
Getting a job is more beneficial for you than going to college because, in a job, you get a salary and experience but nowadays in college, you will waste your whole day, its better to start distance education with the job.
It's a good choice to get a job because you are the elder child in your family, and you can take care of your parents as well. If you earn more and you get a well-paid job, you can build status and respect in society.
According to my knowledge, i suggest some jobs according to your interest . you can get job in marketing department in good company because you have knowledge and interest in social media.
you can also start in bank also which is very near to your home and very convenient to commute.
Take care and good luck for job.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly state why college might not be enjoyable, explain the benefits of working, and suggest specific job types. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of why college is a 'waste' is quite brief and could be expanded with more specific reasoning to better support your position. While you cover all requirements, the depth of the arguments is basic, which prevents a higher score. To improve, try to elaborate on the 'why' behind your suggestions to provide a more persuasive and well-rounded response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use basic cohesive devices like 'because' and 'as well' to link ideas. However, the transition between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of linking words is limited. For example, the jump from discussing family responsibilities to suggesting jobs feels a bit abrupt. To improve, try using a wider variety of cohesive devices such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in addition to this' to create a smoother flow between your paragraphs and sentences. Overall, the structure is clear, but the cohesion could be more sophisticated.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your message, such as 'beneficial', 'commute', and 'convenient'. However, there are some instances of repetitive or slightly unnatural phrasing, such as 'get a job' used multiple times. The vocabulary is functional but lacks the variety and precision required for higher bands. There are also minor errors in word choice, such as 'distance education with the job' which could be phrased more naturally. To reach a higher band, focus on using more varied synonyms and collocations to express your ideas with greater precision and flair.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('in marketing department', 'in bank'), punctuation issues (missing spaces after commas), and capitalization errors ('i suggest'). Additionally, some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'got to know you are confused about your future'. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the overall fluency. To improve, pay closer attention to basic grammar rules, particularly article usage and sentence punctuation, and try to incorporate more complex sentence structures with greater accuracy.
